The Carolina Panthers air attack?

Recommended Posts

I've watched the Panthers since their inception, but I didn't really become a huge fan until the Super Bowl year. So you'll have to forgive me but this is the first time I've actually seen this phrase. Shame it had to be in an Adam Schein article.

Cam Newton brings Steve Smith and the Panthers' air attack to the Georgia Dome this week. I am picking Atlanta, but I don’t feel good about it. If Newton throws for 400 yards in a Carolina win, Dimitroff, Coach Mike Smith and company are going to have a lot of explaining to do.

Never thought I'd live to see the day.....

It always felt lucky with delhomme. Always a crap throw being reeled in by smith or moose at the right time. Cam actually commands this offense. For the first time our offense looks like it is good on purpose. And I wasn't a fan of cam being drafted at first but I am now........results.....the kid can play

I think what he means is that we've never really been known as the kind of team to have an 'air attack.' We've always either been a running team or just nothing at all. It seems like we're beginning to develop an identity as a passing team for the first time with Cam & Chud.

That's the direction this team is moving. Right now, if we picked up a good compliment #2 to Smith our passing attack may be the best in the league. Nanee just isn't cutting it, frankly I wouldn't mind the team drafting a WR in the 1st round since our other holes can be addressed in later rounds. Gettis/LaFell deserve their shots, but eventually we need to move Smith to slot.
