Just sitting here watching Fua and McClain get abused.

Fua has been more impressive.

Fua: Qb disruptions- 4

Tackles- 10

Defensive stops- 9

All in 208 snaps

McClain: Qb disruptions -5

Tackles-3

Defensive stops- 3

All in 215 snaps

Neither has been impressive in rushing, but Fua has been pretty decent vs the run while McClain has struggled.

Except here's the thing. Stats have nothing to do with it.

Worth remembering that in his rookie season, Charles Johnson didn't exactly look like the player he is now either.

Lucky for him, he wasn't needed as a full time starter. If he had been, good chance he'd have looked just as bad then as these guys do now.

Patience...

Again, this isn't an indictment of either McClain or Fua... they're playing exactly as I would expect them to play at this point.

The problem is that we're a talented team who could just as easily be 4-1 right now, but our interior d-line play is one of our major weaknesses, so I'd like to see us try to address that via trade.

I was patient last year, sat through a hopeless 2-14 season while we developed young talent. Now we're a talented team with a few glaring weaknesses, and I'd like to see one of the most glaring weaknesses addressed.

Having a good defensive stop count ( solo tackles for a lost/ no gain) would suggest to me that the player is getting solid penetration/ holding there spot, at least vs the run. Although regardless, I was comparing the players vs each other overall.

In addition if you respect PFF who watches both Dts on every play, they make the observation of Fua's positive play vs the run as opposed to McClain.

Well I sure the fug hope Rivera and Co. get their asses in HURRY mode. The hardest position on the field and biggest challenge has been successfully filled. We are in win mode IMO, no reason not to be with a QB playing like this...who the hell says developmental year? Every year someone is developing. Stupid excuses. The organization needs to pick up the pace.

yep. Rivera is pretty much doing the same thing w/ them he is w/ Cam. Put a HUGE load on them and hope they grow up quick.

This season isn't about wins and losses.....just b/c Cam is surprising people doesn't mean what this season really is about changes.

Yep, same reason we have seen an enormous number of play calls to Cam in the red zone. Best way for Cam to work on his passer skills is near the end zone.

But for a few plays here and there, we could easily be 4-1 or 5-0 and a big part of that is our inability to get any kind of push from the interior of our defensive line.

Is it fair to the rest of the team to sacrifice wins in the name of developing young players?

Getting another DT wont solve the dropped passes and red zone penalties and bad LB play (other than anderson). Let the two 3rd rounders get experience
