Negatives: Played in a simplified, run-first, dive-option read offense with very basic high-low reads. Worked exclusively out of the gun and was very quick to run at the first flash of coverage. Limited field vision — does not process the passing game. Inconsistent throwing mechanics with a flick delivery — generates all of his power from his upper-body strength and too often arms the ball. Streaky passer with spotty accuracy. Makes his receivers work hard and throws into coverage. Does not spin a tight spiral. Very disingenuous — has a fake smile, comes off as very scripted and has a selfish, me-first makeup. Always knows where the cameras are and plays to them. Has an enormous ego with a sense of entitlement that continually invites trouble and makes him believe he is above the law — does not command respect from teammates and always will struggle to win a locker room. Only a one-year producer. Lacks accountability, focus and trustworthiness — is not punctual, seeks shortcuts and sets a bad example. Immature and has had issues with authority. Not dependable.

I swear I remember them delaying the announcement of captains this year because there was some voting controversy between what was assumed to be Cam & Smitty for the last patch. Anybody else remember this? I think it was tweeted by a couple of guys. Whether that was true or not, Cam will definitely get one from next year on no doubt.

Some of those were joke tweets for entertainment value only. I know because I was responsible for at least 2 of them.

But yes, he should be a captain starting next year.

Anybody who is surprised about Newton being a leader, has not payed much attention to his short college career. He was a leader who could rally the troops, and did just that while at Auburn. His leadership is part of his complete package and one of the important reasons he is going to be a star and lead this team to a super bowl someday.

ESPN knew Cam never stole any laptop...They had a feature on him way before the desire to create a firestorm around him and his father, ala Reggie Bush, where he spoke about the laptop incident. No one back then was labeling Cam a thief and it wasn't like he was hiding it. It was only when they saw that it would benefit them to turn it into a firestorm to help feed the mindset of those who were looking for any reason to say Cam wasn't good enough to be a top QB in the NFL did it started to pick up steam and spun into Cam being a theif.
