I don't think you realized he was making a point as to why people's concerns at QB (the most important position in the NFL) is rational. The numbers don't lie. However, DL probably is more of a concern. Even though Jake is getting older and has laid some eggs, you can hand it off to your running backs and just let him manage the team.

Wouldn't you like to know why one of the best rushing teams in the League, and the best rushing team in Panthers history, abandoned the run after they shoved it down Arizona's throats on the opening drive? Jake fumbled to help Arizona go up 14-7. Did Davidson think he had to throw because the Panthers d-backs were outmatched? Why the hell didn't he just stick with what brought him to the dance?

Not a Jake snuggler. Just wondering why Davidson kept calling for passing plays when Jake obviously had the yips, and he had Williams and Stewart at his disposal. Was he saving them for the next game?

It was to MEAT for trying to find yet another scapegoat for jake.

And Meat, I see your point, it's a good one. We generally open our run with the pass somewhat though and with Jake having his issues, it looks like they dould have easily stacked on the run a little. Plus, and nobody will agree but having played sports my entire life I think it can happen, whenyour leader is floundering as Jake was, productivity just goes down. With your decline in hope and a belief that there is nothing you can do because your QB is laying a steamer, yoiur production goes down..everyone's does.

As far as the snuggler comment goes I apologize if you are not one, and truth be told there is really nothing wrong with it. I admire loyalty, pride and all that. To me the guy just does not warrant it and YES it does take a little more than a Panther uniform to command respect from Panther fans in my book. There are plenty of them (snugglers) here and they all come equipped with an arsenal of excuses for Jake. Ranging from plausible to absolutely ridiculous, jake Delhomme excuses are in no short supply around these parts. Yours just sounded like another one to me at the time. The Excuses work for some but what happened in 2003 and completion percentages are not the only things I go by when I determin if a QB is worth a damn or not. Personally I feel we have been pissing up a rope with the guy for the last 4 seasons.

I like Jake a lot as a person. I don't think he's an elite quarterback, although he HAD been an elite quarterback in the postseason until these last two turkeys. I don't think anyone can deny he gakked big time against Arizona. But my point was why does the OC get off scot free? He's the one who needs to make the in game adjustments. You ran it down Arizona's throats on the opening drive. You had a FIRED UP Panthers crowd behind you. Why oh why oh why would you keep calling 17's number? It just didn't make sense to me.

i think the davidson criticism is a valid one...not that he forced jake to turn it over, but that they didn't run the ball. the running game had been shown to be among the most dominate in the game and they quit doing it. it had gotten them way ahead of other teams, no reason to believe that it wouldn't be able to get them out of the hole they were in.

if they had been running the ball instead of trying to throw it so much there wouldn't have been those turnovers. the team went into panic mode and never got out of it. panic mode = losing mode

now whether the decision to give up on the run was the OC or the HC??? who knows? neither should get a pass, though.

I voted DL back a month ago when it came out but would've voted for DC if it were on there. Hopefully Meeks will fix that need.

I have a hard time "blaming" Davidson for that game..that was my feeling after the game as well. After I opened this thread, I went back and looked at the gamelog (I REFUSE to watch that thing again at this point though I have it on DVD) and I can't find anything that screams DAVIDSON SUX from looking at the drive logs. To me, it appears that after that first drive, AZ completely sold out on the run and they stopped it. The Cats passed a TON on first down after their second drive of the game was stuffed. I think they ran once on first down after that second drive. And their runs weren't doing well, getting stuffed for no gain, very minimal gain or negative yards on all but about 2 runs after that first drive. IMO, that game was basically Jake havign a craptacular day (75%) and the defense allowing things to be too easy for the Cards (25%), especially the first drive.
