Some Panther Love in from and Unexpected Place

Simmons is one of the reasons not to read ESPN the Magazine. At least Bristol is smart enough to not put this guy on TV.

Seriously, Simmons is the biggest sports homer ever. You can't talk sports (or read an article) with out it coming back around to the Red Sox/Celts/Pats.

If you fugers were national sports writers, you motherfugers would be homers too.

He is a fan of a team, of course he is going to talk about them more.

If I posted on grantland, I would be a homer too.

It says something about his talent that he is the most downloaded podcast and read articles without being a sensationalist like Cowherd, Bayless or Limbaugh.

You guys sound like weepy vaginas.

National writers/journalists are supposed to be completely objective to the teams they cover. Most beat writers are fans of other teams.

I just don't care for the guy. Never have. He has that typical arrogant, sense of entitlement that many NE fans have. They think they know everything about sports and generally don't like the south.

But to stay on topic, a lot of people enjoy Simmons and he has developed a sort of cult following. I may be mistaken, but I'm fairly sure he was one of the first celebrity sports bloggers before twitter/PFT etc blew up. So I guess it's cool for us to be getting some love from an entirely new, different medium.

ESPN would make you think that this is the best 1-4 team in the history of professional sports.

Please. Simmons articles usually consist of him sucking off Brady and every team in NE.

If he would have said something like 'Cam has trouble reading defenses' or 'Cam isn't ready to be an NFL starter' you'd call him a terrible writer.

Yeah, that's why I've read his mailbags and articles for years as well as his books...I don't have to agree with everything the man writes to like him. That ok with you?

He is not a journalist. Therefore he has no need for journalistic integrity.

He is a blogger and writer for espn.

But, i can understand not liking him I guess. But, I mean if Cam wins us three Superbowls then I think we would all get a little arrogant about our team. :)

The Mag? He's written like two articles in it within the last couple years. The most recent being an article for the Boston issue that just came out, and before that I honestly can't remember him being in the Mag. And yes, Bristol does put him on tv, most recently a couple months back when he was on PTI, and he has been on PTI many times before that. As for him being a homer, yeah, he is. But whenever you talk about sports, does it not always come back to your favorite teams at some point? He shows multiple teams in multiple sports love, not just NE teams. A lot of the time, he doesn't even write about sports btw, a lot of pop culture (see: Grantland), music, and even stories about his family mixed in. Hate if you want, but at least be informed.

He actually is quite the journalist and author. He has wrote at least one national best seller (guess what team?) and is also credited with being one of the creators of the award winning 30 for 30 series.

Trust me, I know all about this guy.

He has started to branch out into different areas of media/journalism. I think he's been on Jimmy Kimmel or some sh1t..I don't watch him either. And I'll take your word on him regarding his recent articles in ESPN magazine because I haven't read it in years and don't plan on doing it anytime soon.

EDIT: Confirmed, BS no longer writes for ESPN magazine.

Honestly, no. If I'm talking with one of my Raider/Yankees/Philly fans I don't usually bring up or have reason to talk about my personal interests, unless we are playing them.

I will admit that I am a huge UNC homer but the only time I break out the gloves is when I get into an argument with a dook fan or some idiot Ohio State or Big East fan starts giving me sh1t.

    • I don't have that stat available - https://www.statmuse.com/nfl/ask/nfl-rookie-receiving-yards-leaders-2024 The number was discussed here and it was normal among *all WR. It just felt more cause a couple of those drops were back breakers. I know one drop he caught 95% of the ball, I think it was the eagles drop.  I think you always look at the whole side, he had a good rookie yardage and TD year with some poorly timed drops. He can improve and he can can slump. Sure he could have played better, same time he could have played much worse too. He was the 32nd player drafted, not some top 5-10 savior. I thought he had good rookie year with ups and downs. Knowing he did so with lack of reps due to injuries and he kept playing with questionable QB play, that looks to me like he can improve his level of play. Not on the stats either, he looked good blocking too, many big gains he was helping with down field blocks.
