wouldn't put anything past this FO. they could act or they could sit and do nothing. fact is they have been going after charger players and the LBs have been weak this year. rivera is familiar with cooper. really isn't out of the realm of possibility regardless of person's report.

...and it was before the news broke that Cooper would be released. Panthers are not planning to sign another CB right now, unless a good one is released.

I believe he's been trying to come back from knee injuries, if I remember correctly. More of an Inside LB, but he was the signal caller for Rivera when he was healthy, worth a look.

Seems like they brought him back for a one year deal, very productive before his injuries reminds me of our Thomas Davis.

there's no downside to bringing in guys like this compared to trading for someone like Curry. Cooper would be cheap and no picks would be given up. If he never sees the field, no harm.

Cooper only played a few snaps for us in the regular season. Most of the reason we kept him as long as we did was that he was more of a teacher for Butler and Diggs.

This actually bugs me b/c i'm a Chargers fan too. This means Tolbert is gonna be out for a while if they gotta sign a RB. But yeah the Panthers need Cooper, however a 3-4 LB, but god we need all the help on special teams we can get.
