I fully realize we aren't running the same scheme as GB....doesn't change the fact our current roster around game still is more suited for a running offense than a passing one.

How much was invested in Starks/Grant....in terms of draft picks and contracts. Starks/Grant is a perfect example of my point.....you don't need 2 1st round draft picks w/ big contracts in today's NFL......

and yes, we are 5 games in and installing the new scheme....but the days of needing to invest like we did under Fox in the RB position are over. They simply don't get the reps for it to be worth it. Money is now better spent to fit the passing league (and money can be spent on both sides of the ball in regards to keeping up w/ the this passing era of football)

Williams (once he deemed a "starter)

2008 - averaged 18.4 touches a game

2009 - averaged 18.5 touches a game

2010 - averaged 16.3 touches a game

2011 (big contract) - averages 10.6 touches a game.

It is nothing against DeAngleo...but you don't spend more to make someone a smaller part of your offense. No reason to believe that DeAngelo's role is going to get bigger......new direction.

What part of we have only played 5 games so far under Chud, had no offseason or OTAs to figure out how everyone will fit into the puzzle, and so far have taken what the defense has given us that you don't understand???

Lets wait and see how the rest of the season goes before deciding the money was wasted or not. Two weeks ago there was no reason to believe he would have a 100 yard day or any big runs. He was given a multi-year contract which you are trying to criticize 5 games in. That is pretty ridiculous if you would actually stop arguing long enough to reflect on what I am saying instead of arguing right away in an attempt to be right.

Frankly I like what our offense is doing and like the direction Chud is going. If that means a few less carries for Williams I am fine with it.

Could we have paid less? Of course but with the uncertainty of everything Hurney figured we need to sign him and he did. Lets move on and pick this back up at the end of season when at least there will be some perspective here. At least for me I am backing away until this discussion has some validity. Until them it just another chicken little discussion that is way premature at this point.

There is nothing to suggest DeAngleo will be as big of a part of the offense as he was under Fox.......and that is when Chud finally has this thing running. Stewart is younger and fits overall what direction Chud is going in better and is younger.

DeAngleo has and will have a place here.....and he can be very good....but he will be drastically overpaid for his role. That much you can already see as Chud has begun building this offense.

Don't let a 1 run confuse the reality that Chud is putting together.

If anyone wants to bitch about a wasted contract why not bitch about Beason's contract. Look at what we paid him and he is on IR. Total waste from a production point of view. But as any fan with sense knows, when he comes back we will need him and he will be locked up multi-years. Seems stupid to argue about his value right now based on one year. Same thing applies to Williams. He is five games into a multi year deal and instead of being on IR is learning a new system under a new coordinator. It still will limit him until evrything gets figured out.

There was nothing to suggest he would have the game he did last week. If heaven forbid Stewart gets hurt and we have to rely on Williams this whole discussion looks pretty lame. Who knows what will happen down the road yet you talk about it as if it is an absolute. It is beyond ridiculous to say you know how things are going to go when frankly no one does including Williams and Chud at this point.

Again stop the incessant arguing and let it go if you can, frankly I have wasted enough time on this chicken little argument,

apples and oranges.

Beason will be the anchor of the D next season. He will be the defensive "QB" and leader as well. LONG term, his contract made perfect sense. He can be a key and highly productive players for many more years in the NFL. Beason isn't older for his position.

you and I both know, you can't compare Beason's situation w/ a 28 yr old RB on a team that is moving to become passing offense, with another 1st round RB who is better in the offense on the roster, AND whose team has a redzone rushing QB.

come on now 55, you and have agreed far to much in recent times.......chaulk to this up to the good ole days and a walk down memory lane.

and yeah, you can't predict injury and how unpredictable football legimately is(things can be flipped on its head tommorrow).....but this a message board....since when do we have to do that here.
