Panthers Outlook: 1-4

Liminy

Recommended Posts

Basically, from what I have seen this season so far, there is no reason to act like a fuging idiot about us being 1-4. Yes it sucks, but if you look at how the season has started for the Panthers, you should (assuming intelligence is within your grasp) be noticing a few things.

First, the defense is getting better. Yes, I said it. As much as they aren't elite or even great, they are playing hard. I know that losing Beason and TD for the season really hampered things a little bit, but I am impressed with how our defense has not just grown, but also they do come through every once in a while in the pinch. As for today's game, you must still remember that Drew Brees is the QB for the Saints. As much poo talking as you throw at him, (I know I have yelled a few obscenities at his play in games) he is a great QB, and until we have an elite defense, he will engineer drives and pick apart the D all day and especially when it's late in the game and their team needs a score.

Second, The run game seems to have taken a turn for the better. I can not tell you how excited I was when D-Will would break off those runs. Very reminiscent of '08. Just like Rivera said, we need to find a balance though. This was the first time this season that while watching the game, I questioned why we were not running the football. This is a simple problem and I think Rivera will handle this during the work week, and it also brings me to my next and final point.

Our 4 losses, in my opinion, have come due to one thing. Inexperience. I feel that a lot of people have forgotten that they are looking at a rookie head coach, with a new coordinating staff, a rookie QB, a defense with 2 of it's leaders not available to play, and a lot of 2nd year guys who probably didn't learn as much as they could have in their rookie year due to underlying circumstances with Fox and the team as a whole.

Look, the bottom line is, I was upset that we didn't win today, and I know that everyone else who is a Panther's fan was upset as well, and there is nothing wrong with that. But, I feel that a lot of you need to do exactly what I did today, I saw the game, I found something to do for a while after, let my thoughts and emotions settle down, and now, almost 8 hours after the game ended, I'm posting a thread.

We are not the 09-10 Packers, we are not the 08-09 Saints, and we are not the 07-08 Steelers. We are this year's Carolina Panthers, a 1-4 team at the moment, but in all honesty, I'd say out of the teams that are currently 1-4, we probably have the best chance to turn the season around and make something out of this.(fug Philly) I really just hope that some of you on this board do not handle problems in your personal lives the way that you handle losses for an exciting new Carolina Panthers team that has a bright future in this league, and if you do, I feel sorry for your children or future children who will never be able to learn how to handle a loss in life without throwing a tantrum in the middle of the floor so that you put down whatever poo you are watching or eating, and pay attention to them.

Love Yall!

With how balanced the NFL is right now, we are far from done at 1-4. Two teams (Giants, Bucs) are tied at 3-2 for the 6th spot. The Saints should hand the Bucs a loss this week and no one is quite sure about the Giants this season. The NFC North will almost surely grab 2 playoff spots and the last WC will be a race between the second place team in the NFC East and the second place team in the NFC South. The NFC West sucks like it has for a few years.

Simply put, we will not outrun the Saints in wins. We must win our games against Atlanta and TB.

i dont feel that i need to spam to 100 posts before i can contribute to this site with a thread of my own

Maybe you don't but it seems that almost every other poster does.

The 100 post rule went away briefly and it was not good. :(

I think the biggest problem is that I honestly don't think who we are yet. I think we have had so many opportunities to make statement games so far that what could have been us labeled as winners with our rookie sensation, which almost had seemed like destiny going into our second game and for every game since that, so far, we missed that boat. We're almost.

And even though everyone understands we are rookies, with a rookie coaching staff, when you consider the alternative of what we could be right now considering the way we played, some have to understand that a lot of people do have changed and different expectations, and yes right now, much like Cam Newton, are feeling some disappointment. Not everyone expected us to suck before the season started, and a whole bunch of people had changed their expectations after it started. A lot of us did hope that Newton would be the spark that would turn us into that sensational team this year, and you also can't blame those after the first couple of games.

And the truth is the rookie team/rookie coach is just a lame excuse at this point when we are dominating our opponents in most games. This would only make sense if we were clearly not good enough to win, but as it stands we're actually clearly not bad enough to be losing.

I think the biggest thing to figure out when we play against the Falcons is to answer this question: "who are we?" We found out who Cam Newton is, but who are the Carolina Panthers?

ive pretty much settled on them sweeping the falcons and having a respectable 2nd half to the season

Atlanta, TB, Minnesota, Tennessee, and Indianapolis all look beatable. Washington and Houston are good and should be close games. Detroit and New Orleans are great and need a perfect game to beat, but with New Orleans for the last game they could rest their players making it an easy game. The rest of the season looks a lot better than I thought at the begining of the season.
