A motherfucking timeout!!!

yes he thought there were 12 men on the field and thought given the penalty it would tempt them with the new field position and setup time to go for the td. He discussed it after the game.

Bull poo. He thought of all that in the 5 seconds they had left on the clock. I would respect him more if he just owned it rather than making up some lame scenario.

Did no one else catch the little detail that, even though it didn't count, the ball was snapped with one second on the clock? If Carolina had 12 men on the field (which they probably did, as the switch-out to special teams is a different boneheaded decision), Kasay would have been 5 yards closer in the same position. I don't know where all of this "they wouldn't have been able to get the kick off" stuff is coming from.

I was there and saw zero on the clock when the ball was snapped. i don't think they would have gotten it off.

I was about to go ape poo, until I was informed that there we 12 men on the field. Still aggravating, but he did have a reason for the TO.

Irrelevant, since New Orleans wasn't going to get off the kick, anyway. If they had, and he'd made it, what would it have changed if there was a flag? If he'd missed it and there was a flag, everyone would have been pissed, but in the confusion of it all, them getting another kick still would have been better than calling a timeout, when they were struggling just to get set.

everybody is a nfl head coach after the fact.

I called it before it happened all game long. Seen it too many times not to know by now, unlike many apparently.

Most frustrating part, knowing that the Saints were going to get a TD and try to leave as little time on the clock as possible, and knowing that 1) there was nothing the Panthers would be able to do about it, because 2) they were too stupid to even TRY HARDER to prove New Orleans wrong.
