Re-Sign Hangartner?

He seems to have solidified the RG spot and has played pretty well. Should he be re-signed long-term? I know we have Geoff Schwartz coming back next year, but it never hurts to have that depth and between Hangartner and Schwartz we'd have two guys who can play 4/5 positions on the OL between them.

I say we re-sign Hangartner and open the RG spot to competition next year in camp between him and Schwartz. See who the best man is and then we'll have ourselves a key reserve swing OL either way. Plus, Hangartner now has experience with this group as a starter in the new offense, which will no doubt be a big plus.

What does everyone think about the possibility of giving Hangartner a long-term deal? Or at least a 3 year deal. I wouldn't think it'd cost all that much to get done.

I'd bring him back, even just for depth purposes. I've been impressed by his play, particularly in pass protection. Next year we'll have Schwartz and Gary Williams back, who will probably battle Hangman for that RG spot.

Uh no It's not. He's doing a great job. Why not have depth? Especially in the O line..

I guess it might make sense as the team probably wouldn't be committing itself to much, but are there any proprietary or deadline oriented reasons to be thinking about this now?

That's a sincere question, there may be.

I think there's a decent chance Hangartner is kept long term going forward, but I imagine the coaching staff and Hurney's staff are going to focus on this season's performance right now, and worry about extending guys like him at the end of the season. Pretty standard practice for Hurney's FO.

Hangartner is nothing special he's pretty decent. Hang always wanted to keep playing here so resigning at the end of the season wouldn't be much.

it would be worth it to try and keep him around a couple more years. solid depth at the very least. i hated seeing him go, but knew it was best for his career to have that real opportunity to start. i'm glad to have him back.

still...kind of early to be talking about stuff like that.
