We said that about Nannee and Tutu. So far there was a reason we had never heard of them. Not saying AA will be as bad but it does seem Rivera has an unhealthy obsession with Chargers players.

To Rivera's credit, Naanee and Tutu were offensive players, so they weren't really his guys. But he coached Applewhite directly and dude actually got in the games and did something.

Applewhite is a really physical player, and we absolutely need some of that on defense and special teams. The only concern is that this seems to be an obvious desperation move. This guy has been out there. Rivera knows him and could have brought him in a long time ago if he was really going to be a perfect fit. I don't think it's a perfect fit, but it could potentially fill an immediate need, and give us that much more of a chance to win games now.

My best memory of Applewhite was the hit that he laid on Dwayne Bowe on an onside kick in Kansas City that saved our 2008 season. Kassim Osgood recovered, we marched down the field and scored the GW TD to win 22-21 after trailing 21-9 at the 2 minute warning. You guys even helped, creaming Denver later that day to keep them from clinching the West.

And setting Shanahan's fate in motion. Interesting.

I say keep bringing them in and keep cutting the non performing players. In my completely uninformed opinion about half the team is dead weight, we just haven't found any players to take that spot away from the riff-raff.
