Either you have faith or you don't. Anybody who claims there is one with absolute certainty is lying to themselves or schizophrenic. However, since belief in a god requires faith, I can safely say there is no god because there is no evidence of such and no necessity for such a being, unless of course you are looking for a simple answer to all of life's questions (much like Santa Claus or the Tooth Fairy for young kids). It helps some people, it doesn't help others.

Your friend has it right, from a theistic point of view. Either you fully believe or you don't. When you're searching for yourself, you'll go back and forth between the two possibilities, but ultimately it's one or the other (belief vs non-belief). I've never heard anybody say "I kinda believe in a god." Not to say those people don't exist, though.

I'm okay with people thinking with 100% certainty that there is a God.

What I have a problem with is if they "know" with 100% certainty that there is a God. Because if that's the case, we've just changed the definition of the word "know."
