Cam's Been Even Better Than His Stats

It depends on whether you define accuracy as the same as consistency. He is very accurate on many of his throws. His problem is that he throws the ball with different footwork just about everytime. On the run, leaning back, falling down, buying time. He just needs to be a more consistent passer but his accuracy especially for the deep ball is very good.

Well yes, if you want to get technical Cam needs to work on his precision. By technical definition he is "accurate", almost all of his throws are catchable. Ideally you would like to see him be "precise", meaning no more grounders, highballs, or passes just a foot out of range. :nono:

You know what I mean though. Our WR's have been making some great catches for him. He has already shown progress since game 1 and should get better.

we need wins. fug stats.

Exactly.

So few games in the NFL that losses sink you immediately. Every year there are teams that find ways to win ugly games and make deep runs in the playoffs.

I'm excited that there is so much potential but that gets you dick in the NFL.

As for Cam he is playing at a very high level already. I've always said that accuracy is very hard to fix but some of his throws are unbelievably precise. It seems like he has developed by leaps since the preseason.

60% completion is pretty damn good.

stats, stats

players likely play below or above what their stats show

W's count and W's are coming. Everybody pissn' their pants because they lack both the patience and foresight to see that aren't worthy of our time around here. It's about time we who agree things are headed in the right direction stop acknowledging those that are too stupid to stop bitching about every little thing altogether.

patience, direction and foresight all get you nothing in the NFL.

..today maybe

but overall, they get you everything in the NFL and almost anything else.

I don't know. There is so much variance and parity in the NFL and so few games. There seems to be this strange groupthink around here that we just need one more year and another good draft pick to be "good." Half this board seems to be wishing for losses!

My view is we have the pieces now who knows what we will look like next year.

We do not have the pieces now. we have better pieces in certain places, namely TE and QB, but the QB is young and the D has a hard tome getting off the field. Also the Oline cannot gain rhythm for injuries.

The summer we lost Delhomme and Peppers I said we would be two years out at best. Not that those were bad moves but they meant rebuilding a d-line and developing a new QB...Fox not being offered a new deal also counts for quite a bit.

I know excuses, excuses. but legit ones. The fadct is, when you have an offense like we have built you have a chance to stay in a game, but when you have a defense like fox once built and how Riv is gonna build you can dictate how a game is played.

This is just a great year to watch a budding offensive giant take some shots and get a big chip on their shoulder. I think we as fans should enjoy it for what it is.

this right here sums it all up.

right now we are good enough to hang with the best in the league and we could have won those games if a couple mistakes weren't made on defense or we did a little better in the red zone. a couple ref calls could have changed the outcome as well.

right now....this early in the season...this early in the career of our franchise QB (without the benefit of a full offseason, mind you)...this early into the relationship with this young coaching staff (again, without the benefit of a full offseason)...we are good enough to be sitting at 4-0 and that has everything to do with this young offense. this young QB in this system that revolves around his growing skillset and knowledge.

we may not be happy with the scoreboard at the end of the game so far, but if you think that is any indication at all how it's going to be going into the future, even the rest of the season you are delusional.

this is a high powered and practically dominant offense that is just getting started. that in itself is enough to get me excited. i'm going to love watching this giant grow and it makes me happy that this is happening on my team.

it's about time.

Just compare last year's offense to this years' offense. How can you not be excited about the improvement? Last year, I was just hoping for 1 first down on any given drive and I was disappointed more often than not. If there was a false start or a hold on 1st down last year, the "drive" was already over.

Last year had to be one of the bottom 10 seasons ever in the NFL to watch live as a fan. So yeah i'm excited about the improvemengt and Cam is electric to watch.

However 75% of what I am looking for when I go to a game is a W.

The other 25% is neat and keeps me coming back but I want to go to the playoffs.

We have plenty of talent to be in the playoffs this year

Every week I see Cam improving. That's huge.

Yes he'll have some regressions (the high throws in the Jax game for one), but the consistent improvement shows the work he's putting in.

that was the #1 thing i was looking for. wins were nice, but realistically i was just expecting to see growth, an ability to grasp what is going on in the game, and flashes of brilliance that is to come.

i've seen that in spades, much more than i could have hoped for. so much that i've raised the bar somewhat for what i expect. not sure that was wise though. it's easy for me to forget where this team was last year, how short the offseason was, how young this offense is, and that newton is still...despite how good he's doing...still just a rookie.

i have to keep looking at peyton manning's first year and remind myself that if that can happen to him, losses can happen to cam. he's already ahead of where peyton was at this point in that regard. manning didn't get his first win until week 5. fwiw, going into that game he only had 3 TDs and 11 INTs.

We all want wins, but sometimes you have to go through some growing pains to become a consistent winner. I'm not so sure we have the defensive talent to make the play offs this year though. That's why most fans are pointing to next year.

we just realized that, though. we have the talent for sure and the rest of the division isn't exactly stellar this year so far. we could win it or at the very least get a wildcard spot. we've got as good a chance as anyone in that regard.

we get excited about this being just the beginning, but we have to remember that this is still 'the beginning' so while we may think that this team is good enough as is, expectations should be hampered a little, just for this year, though.

give cam newton a full offseason with a year under his belt and this team an offseason to learn their respective systems and time to fill holes that we know we have and there will be no reason that we shouldn't be massively in the playoff hunt yearly just like the colts and the pats.
