When will the Pink end???

I actually think its a good gesture. It's more about raising awareness and actually also as a reminder of those that have lost their battles. Can people extort it? Maybe but we support in good faith that it is going to a good cause. Cancer is a big deal and early detection helps save lives. I say keep it going.

blah blah blah

What about other forms of cancer? Alzheimers? Fallen and/or injured soldiers? Victims of domestic abuse? And on and on and on. No offense to anyone suffering from breast cancer, but the pink & awareness poo is way overboard. It's pretty sad a deadly disease has turned into a money machine for corporations.

It's a color, I'm kind of shocked that you're bothered by it; unless, of course, you're one of the men who are so insecure with themselves that even the color pink makes you feel uneasy.

And since when do you watch football worried about whether or not a team's uniform colors mesh?

Awareness, yes everyone know's of breast cancer, but the pink on their jersey's bring it back to mind rather than an afterthought. Is it a scam for some companies to make money off of? Probably, but it also raises a crap load of cash for research that could help both breast cancer and other related diseases.

Why not all the other diseases out there getting games dedicated to them? Because you can't have a game for every darn thing out there, so it's nice to pick one and stick with it. There's charities and funds and parades and what not for all types of disease, quit complaining that they're not ALL represented in this one case.

I love the people in this thread who act like they are taking the high road.

The "oh my goodness! You don't care about cancer!! You are a terrible man!!" OR, even better, the "what, u no lyk pink? u gay brah? u insecure bro?"

As opposed to people acting like watching football players wearing pink on their uniforms is some great hardship on them?

(yeah, that's reasonable)

1 in 6 people in America are hungry. Don't see the NFL committing an entire month out of a 4 month season to helping make others "aware" of that. If it were baseball where the year was 11 1/2 months long it would be one thing, but it's not. Let's not even pretend money doesn't play some factor in this as well. This is the same league that wanted to fine Jake Plummer for wearing a Pat Tillman sticker on his helmet. Same league that had to be convinced by the players to allow them to wear 9/11 memorial clothing.

An entire month away from the standard uniform is ridiculous when the league will fine a player if he doesn't wear a certain brand of shoe. Wear pink the 1st week of October every year, that way every team gets to do it since the byes don't start until the second week, and rock a pink ribbon on the back of each player's helmet for the month. Plenty of other ways to raise breast cancer awareness throughout October.
