A Big Reason Behind Defense Issues

Most of the successful runs against us Sunday went to the outside. DT played pretty well.

Let me build on what you're saying

Forte had six runs between the tackles, for a whopping 16 yards. That leaves 189 yards to outside runs. Now could that be to the Bears seeing a strength in the middle that we're all missing or does it show that our defensive tackles are not demanding more attention from their line? Without having guys on the defensive line, who eat up more than one blocker, it is allowing their blockers to make it to the second and third tier of our defense.

Valid point.

TBH it has nothing to do with who we drafted and more to do with players not doing there jobs. There was plenty of times where we had the RB bottled up and missed the tackle. Thats just Pop Warner right there. Guys out of pos and guys missing tackles have been the biggest problem from day one and that has nothing to do with draft picks.

without a doubt DWill's money could have been spent MUCCCCCCCCCH more wisely..

barry cofield signed to washington for 36 mil, and that was the best DT in the market this year

he was my pick to sign for a DT, but i don't think we had any chance. Once Washington nabbed him right the fug up almost as soon as the opening bell rang in free agency it felt like they targeted him with laser sight and once they do that there's no chance of competing with them.

I feel like Ron Edwards would've been doing a good job right now, but his triceps tearing like tissue paper in TC was classic Panther drama.

oh btw i'm pretty much sold on the idea of picking a top NT in the next draft

the way this season is going we'll probably be picking 8-12 and that's around where Ngata was drafted. i don't know who is out there because i don't watch much college football but hopefully there's a DT that dynamic who is coming down the pike.

Point being, typically the potent offenses lack on defense to some degree. If we are going to be a passing team, our defense is going to be on the field a lot. Field goals and long drives that peter out isn't going to cut it. Out of nessecity, 30+ points will be the norm to win games, dictated by the offensive mantra.

Then explain how our offense is on the field longer than the defense right now by over 4 minutes? Go back and look at our games from last year where the defense was on the field forever. 24 points a game would have given us a 500 record last year. Without the blown coverages and special teams gaffes 24 points would be more than enough right now.
