i think they need to tweak the college system and use that

maybe instead of just starting the possession on the 30 or whatever, each team kicks off, and the receiving team has to score, and the other team then gets kicked off to, and they have to match or win

i think overtime should be a full regulation 5th quarter, with whoever is winning at the end being the game winner.

football is a game of momentum swings. you can't determine who is the better team by the first team to score. the lions could kick a 60 yard field goal on the patriots, but that doesn't mean they deserve to win the whole game.

let it play out like a football game.

You guys do know that the NFL has already decided there will be no changes to the overtime rules, right?... ;)

Competition Committee voted against it. The owners can still change it with a vote at the upcoming Owners Meeting.

I would keep the OT period sudden death. The only "tweaking" I would do is that the teams who wins the opening coin toss at the start of the game would be awarded the the ball (or option to defer) at the beginning of OT. If this were the case, at the end of the game the 1st overtime possession would be known and if you weren't going to get the ball it could change your end of regulation offensive strategy (try more aggressively to score rather than play for overtime.)

I actually like the idea I heard from Peter King I believe it was... He said they ought to adapt the college style system, but with one huge tweak... Give each team one possession, so fans feel like their team at least had a fair shot. He said it should be kicked off and everything the same way as if you were just starting the game, so each team gets a chance.

He said this would be great for the game because the current format is unfair. He mentioned that so much of the game weighs on the coin flip at the end of regulation and was like "why else do the fans of the team that loses the coin flip boo and get upset when the other team wins it... because it gave them an advantage in trying to win the game."

If each team has a possession, no one can say they didn't get a fair chance. I'd love to see them adapt this system.

yup this one...

Keep it the same but with one minor change, if the team that wins the kick scores a field goal on the opening drive of overtime the opposing team is given one drive to attempt to tie the game or score a touchdown. If the team that wins the toss socres a touchdown on the opening drive, the game is over.

Well for one thing, it's the pros, so you wouldn't put them on the 25. Start them on the 50. And they have to score, and if it's a touchdown they have to go for two. That should end it pretty quickly. But I like Peter Kings Idea better. Kickoff to each team, if the first team doesn't score then the second team only needs a FG.

I like that one...gets the whole team involved.

Play a full quarter; none of this my kicker can kick a 50 yder to win the game...The college system is cool...for college kids who are not in the physical shape that the pros are. Dont want to play a full quarter play a 10 min quarter and kickoffs come from the 20 yd line.....that would make it ineresting and given the short field somebody would score
