If you buy into passer rating...

Is newton the one who should be blamed for this, or could it be the play calling/ execution of his teammates?

The kid is not perfect and I am not trying to be an apologist but Cam deserves no more than a third of the blame for our red zone woes if that much.

Cam has had his fair share if issues worth noting in the redzone in games....missed some open WRs, poor decisions not throwing it away which knocked up back, etc.

Not bashing Cam on it....redzone is the toughest part of the field. He has done well for a rookie.....but his redzone work keeps him from being what some of said. He simply hasn't outplayed every QB but 4.

No offense to Cam but the coaching staff seems dead set on giving him basically every red zone opportunity. We've got 2 great RBs and how many carries inside the 5 have they gotten? I'd rather have the 5'10 235lb Stewart trying to muscle a yard or 2 than the 6'5 245 Cam. Much lower running height, harder to take down.

If Cam get's within the one yard line with 4 downs I think he gets it every time but that's just me.

And Stewart can't? Cam is a good runner, but he's no Stewart or Williams. He's not as agile or as fast as them. Not as powerful as Stewart either.I have no problem with QB sneak thrown as a changeup from time to time in the red zone, but it shouldn't be the go to play it's become.

It's more about the Run/Pass option..if we spread em out he can just run it in or if they try to bunch it up just throw it to the outside..if we have to go goaline formation it's easier to stop.

Yea but cam has more rushing TDs. A lot more. And he is better than everyone except teh obvious. Man Ben just seems to always be last. Passing is important and I can't STAND the draw cam plays unless their on 2nd and 1. If he could just learn to run when the defense is caught off guard when there is some major holes he'd be set.

What does the formation have to do with anything? As long as your not in an empty backfield a run or pass with a back is a possibility. You don't have to be in a goal line formation to run with a back. Williams and Stewart have a combined 5 carries inside the 20. Newton has 14, 10 inside the 10.

    • Start with Bryce, this is like his rookie year. The 1st 2 games proved her was wired wrong and it looks like (we hope) he needed a time out to reset and be the player that was drafted. He's still about a year or more away from being a top 15 QB, if the Panther give him another playmaker or 2 (a top WR and a decent TE) and maintain that line. Canales deserves credit as playing that card correctly to motivate (or refocus) his QB for one last shot to decide his and the Panthers immediate future. As a Panther fans we should hope he keeps improving as we invested so much to get him. CJ Stroud will never have a season like he had, even if he stays a top 10 QB. He's got great character so I'm rooting for Bryce to continue on his positive journey. Canales is playing the week to week thing with bryce perfectly. Nothings guaranteed, earn it weekly which builds consistency and consistency is greatness.  Keep the O-line. They've got to extend Brady C, along with Mayes that have a real good 7. Great job Morgan starting with the big guys upfront.  I really hope they draft a DE or OLB in the 1st round. Getting Brown back with A Robinson and what DJ has shown that we can have a decent D-line. Need a CB in the early rounds/ or a time FA to go with Horn.  The future as to next year being good enough to challenge for the division is within reach. Just show progress (win or lose) every week. Kudos to Dan Morgan. Plays GM like a LB. Tackle the problem and move on, don't just hope it works out. Find guys with your playing mentality and work closely with your HC to share a vision. Teamwork starts at the top and flows down.
    • Since we play the Panthers today and tmrw, we will have one gigantic double thread for both games. Today’s game is at 3pm and tmrw is 7pm.    After beating the Rangers and sending the those yankee bastards back to Cary, we get the Champs in the house.  Clean up the defense, no more lazy clears, and score baby score.  LFG CANES!
