So another season down the drain.

Well when we got rid of the lame duck coach, resigned a bunch of star veterans, lucked into a 400 yard per game QB while benching a crappy one and added two amazing TEs...I guess I got my hopes up a little.

I mean, I hear what you're saying and I'm disappointed too that we only have one win, but damn... do you not see any positives? I sure do.

Sure.

Smitty is on track to set the all time NFL single season receiving record ensuring his entrance into the hall of fame. That is pretty badass.

Guess someone should have told these teams their seasons were over at 1-3 as well.

2000 - New Orleans Saints, Divisional Playoffs

2001 - New England Patriots, Won 2002 Super Bowl

2002 - Tennessee Titans, Lost AFC Championship Game

2002 - Atlanta Falcons, Divisional Playoffs

2002 - New York Jets, Divisional Playoffs

2002 - Pittsburgh Steelers, Divisional Playoffs

2004 - Green Bay Packers, Wild Card Playoffs

2005 - Chicago Bears, Divisional Playoffs

2007 - San Diego Chargers, Lost AFC Championship Game

2008 - Minnesota Vikings, Wild Card Playoffs

Counter examples are great but it doesn't change the math. It's very difficult to do.

Gotta beat NO to have any chance.

In the 20 years of the current playoff system, only 21 of 240 teams have made the playoffs after starting 1-3 -- less than 10 percent...Only five teams that began 1-4 during that span made the playoffs.
