Newton testy after loss

if i was cam, i'd be blowing up too. i've done my job--in fact, exceeded--and i have to play with a bunch of little leaguers. the team play is pathetic.

If that's the reason he blew up, then he blew up at the wrong person today. Olson is certainly not a little leaguer. In fact, he played pretty well today.

My guess is that Newton is pissed about his own play today. He played well at times, but had a pick 6 and overthrew several receivers. And he might be pissed about some dropped passes by a certain receiver, some bad penalties as well as some bad calls by the ref's.

Still there's no excuse to tell that to a teammate showing good sportsmanship. Cam displays a lot of good qualities as a leader but clearly has some issues he needs to work on. As many issues as we have on the field the last thing that needs to happen is a Jay Cutler-like locker room situation, no matter how major or minor.

Thought he handled things better than that. We'll see how it goes from here.

Guessing Cam is tired of losing, which adds more fuel to the fire. But you don' wanna bring his confidence down.

Cam's confidence is less important than losing the locker room.

Steve Smith can do that crap and get away with it because he's a receiver, out there away from everyone, having to battle for everything he gets. Cam's the Quarterback. He can't go around snapping on teammates for no reason, unless he wants to embark on a path to become the next Ryan Leaf.

If Cam got testy after the game, I think he was just trying to show the other players that he wasn't just disappointed, he's MAD about it and he doesn't take losing games lightly. Losing is something he doesn't want to get used to and just accept.

He's a rookie. He'll have to get used to the roller coaster ride in the NFL. He'll be miserable if the Panthers have a season as bad as last year though. Cam might need the other players to help him take the lows with the highs better. Cam should use that anger as fuel during the week of practice to fix as many things as possible. That's when you turn things around.

Mountain out of a molehill.

Heard the same thing 3 weeks ago when Naanee was reaching for air after running a lazy route, and the Panthers blew opportunities to tie the game in Arizona. Heard the same after the Green Bay loss. Now there's a consensus that Naanee sucks and the Panthers are blowing it in the redzone.

A tiny seed can grow into a pretty large tree.

Rivera needs to stamp this out right now. The last thing a locker room with Smith and Shockey needs is a QB who can't control his emotions.

PLEASE stfu, we don't even know what he said. I'm not gonna go by some internet blogger on twitter.

Unless, of course, you are one of those mindless souls that believe that everything they read reported by the media is always 100% accurate.

I guess you're one of those mindless souls that ebelieves whatever you think is in the absolute best light of your player(s). No shame in that. Nor is there any for simply replying to the information that is provided.

Wasn't Olsen's fault. Only person Cam should flip out on is Naanee.

I'm thinking Cam didn't want to be told he had a "good game" when he (more than anyone) knows damn good and well he missed some plays he should have made.

THAT'S why he was mad. At himself. He's his biggest critic (which can be good and bad... it's up to the coaching staff to direct that self-critique in a positive way).

He wasn't mad (IMO) because he was mad at the team... he was mad because he didn't make the plays he though he should have made that would have resulted in the team WINNING.

So, in that mood, being told that he had a "good game" probably wasn't what he wanted to hear right at that moment.

Fighting a losing battle here.

A teammate offers kind words. The franchise quarterback is a dick in response. No excuse. If I were Rivera (assuming all this is true) I'd have a chat with Cam to discuss how he handles his own teammates. One Steve Smith in the locker room is enough. I know he's competitive but there are 52 other guys who are and didn't do that.

Hopefully it's an isolated incident, he apologized in person, and all is well.
