Props to the Secondary

I just wanted to take a second to commend a young secondary that has been underestimated and not given much credit (not saying there has been much to give), but I thought they played thier best game of the year so far.

Butler was very active (as stated in a separate thread) making plays in the pass and run game. Munnerlyn played a physical game in pass defense while Martin played consistent with one big break up on a crucial third down play.

But, I was most impressed with Charles Godfrey. On the first drive of the game, when the bears ran it down the defense's throat, he made three straight tackles near the goaline resulting in a field goal. He played well in run support and had a big time interception (that we couldn't capitalize on). Sure our run defense was pourous today and the bears didn't air it out as much...but props need to be given.

Losses hurt, but today wasn't a result of poor secondary play.

I would feel comfortable with Gamble and either butler or munnerlyn opposite, with the other as the nickel. I felt this was thread worthy...but its like sex with that ugly girl down the hall..it seemed like a good idea at the time, but when I finished I kinda..start to regret it.

:cheers2:

    • I just switched to prime video with fanduel south. Will I be able to watch the Canes playoff games still?
    • I mean, you can use that "logic," but the problem is that most practice squad players, backups or average guys don't put the play on film that Wharton did when given their opportunities.  Perhaps you'll end up right, but I don't think that just because a guy has been in a rotation makes him inherently less productive because he gets more snaps. I will say that the KC fans I've seen on social media loved him, and considered him their second best DT,  regardless of his "rotational" status, and generally considered him a dawg, so I'm going to give him the benefit of doubt until he shows otherwise.
    • Did I miss something?  The people we have developing players now are not the ones we've had in the past so I don't know what the heck people are talking about when they say we are not good at developing players right now.  We only have one year to go on.  Canales likes young players or players who are on an upward trajectory, especially in FA this year.  Past QB's and what he's done with Bryce are good examples. Tershawn Wharton - 26 Tre'von Moehrig - 25 Pat Jones II - 26 Bobby Brown III - 24 Michael Jackson - 28 Jaycee Horn - 25 Tommy Tremble - 24 We missed on Milton Williams but he's 26. Everyone else we picked up are on 1 year deals.  The Panthers new front office and Canales absolutely scream developmental team. Pick 8 (stay) Tier 1 Elite - Abdul Carter, Travis Hunter and Mason Graham Tier 2 Elite - Jalon Walker, Mykel Williams, Will Johnson Trade down: There are quite a few really good players that fit us at Edge, DT, S and WR mid to late 1st and high 2nd.  Some combos that would be possible that I really like.  Imagine getting 2 of these guys by trading down. Stark, Pierce Jr, Golden, Scourton, Grant, Emmanwori, Ezeiruaku, Umanmielen, Deone Walker, Harmon and this is just off the top of my head.
