Great Article on Panthers.com

Unlike last year, Wharton won't spend the coming months re-adjusting to a position on the offensive line. Jordan Gross ensured that by signing a six-year contract extension in February. But for 12 months, the business side of the sport seeped into their conversations, as Gross was the Panthers' franchise player last year, while Wharton signed a contract extension on Feb. 14, 2008.

"It started with me and him last year. It wasn't a last-minute thing," recalled Wharton. "We were talking every day on our way into work."

But a text message from Gross last month let Wharton know that the work they put in together on the left side of Carolina's offensive line would not be in vain; it is more likely to stand as the start of something significant, the foundation of a first-team quintet that features four players who have known no other pro team and a fifth, Keydrick Vincent, who was a perfect fit after being placed on the first unit three days into training camp.

What stood out the most to me was Wharton and Gross' relationship on/off the field. Perhaps the Gross signing wouldn't have happened if those 2 didn't gel as they did.

Their relationship was a detail I wasn't that aware of before this article...

The thing that stands out to me, is that for the first time in years, all 5 starters know exactly where they're gonna be playing this coming season, and it's the same position they played the year before. The only real question mark, is how Vincent has recovered from his injury, and whether or not he can stay healthy for 16 games.

:iagree:

I would still like to see the Panthers finally get a permanent fixture at the RG spot. This is one position that has been in flux for years. Vincent, while a good stop-gap, is not a long term answer there with the groin injuries he's been dealing with and we could use some youth there. JMO

Was this past season the only one he has had injuries? I couldn't find any history on it. I think hes a bit more than a stop gap but I would agree he's the weakest link of a very strong chain. If we can upgrade in the draft, "Here, Here!"

He may be the weakest link, but he was also the most praised there for a while as being hte most consistent. He was a beast on the right side for some time. Would love to provide someone to come in to replace him, in a few years. lol

He messed it up pretty bad before, I believe this time it was a clean tear, completely off.

can i get a list of the people im suppose to pay attention to?

becus i think you are all crazy..:P

 You just might be a screamer:

  • If you want Julius Peppers off this team for a can of Coke because you feel slighted.
  • If you want Jake Delhomme gone whether there is a replacement or not and do not offer a solution...
  • If anyone over the age of 26 is too old to play for this team and you'll make sure we know it. Adjacent to this is your favorite player who may be 50, but you still think they could save this team.
  • If every Free Agent that gets cut could be a savior for this team, regardless of the cap situation.
  • If your of the opinion the team is not going ahead it's going backwards, this early in the year.
  • If we need to draft a QB in the first round, when we all know defense is the key.
  • If we need to draft a WR, TE, RB, FB, OL, LB in the first round, again, when we know defensive line is the key.
  • If we cannot possibly thrive unless we get player X who plays for the school you went to...

  • If you feel that you absolutely know every thought in the coaching staff's minds at every moment and have the right to present that as fact.
  • If you think that individual PSL owners, not corporate, but individual PSL owners are what's wrong with the fan base and feel obligated to tell the ones who are on this forum that at every possible chance.
  • If you think every player here is a great individual, (until they piss you off and you call for their heads) and every player for every other team is an azzhole, (until he comes here)
  • If ;you think the coaching staff are idiots who shouldn't even be coaching Pop Warner.
  • If you ditto for the front office.

  • If you got pissed off by this post, because that means I nailed you. :D

Did I leave anything out?...

I know that people have different opinions, that's a given and you have that right. But to go page after page of arguing and insults back and forth about it is just ludicrous. We can just agree to disagree now and then instead of yelling at one another and calling them names...

:D

This was more tongue in cheek than anything else, just so's you knows...
