There were a lot of fans that didn't think the Panthers should have re-signed Wharton...based on this and his play last season I am so glad they did. This is exactly what I want to see out of the players on the team.

I remember a lot of fans saying that the team needed to get rid of both Gross and Wharton. Yes, they probably were some of those fans that scream about everything but they were screaming.

And yeah, after he was signed there were a lot of fans upset with the amount of money.

He is my fav OL. I bought his jersey at the Broncos game this past year. I was so proud of our OL this year I had to buy a jersey to show my appreciation. Being a Gamecock fan, and seeing how much he improved at gaurd, I chose him.

i don't remember specifically but i do know that i was happy with anything that they did to improve and solidify the Oline. considering at this point it was looking like he was going to be a tackle again (iirc), the money wasn't too far off.

i don't think i was ever thrilled with him playing OT, though, and i can't remember how much experience he had at OG prior to being here but i was hoping for a better and bigger OT.

i just can't remember exactly what i thought...doesn't matter, though. i like the oline we have.

Travelle is one of the nicest guys on the whole team. Just a big, easy going guy who loves his mom and his hometown (Fountain Inn) and probably will go back to both when he is done playing. He's good people.

The first two words that went through my head when I heard the terms of his deal were "guard money". Once they franchised Gross, it seemed logical that a Gross-Wharton left side was what they had in mind since teams rarely franchise right tackles.

With that in mind, I was surprised to find people lamenting the signing. I think some of it was because people looked at the money and thought "left tackle" again, but that of course wasn't true. Gross' current contract is what LT money looks like.

For me, I'm just glad we're keeping some ugly people around. The best teams tend to be built from the foundations out, and it's nice to see us finally following that model.
