Dropped Direct TV, just signed up for AT&T U-Verse

Well, my 2 years just came up with Direct TV. I was paying $140 a month for Sho, HBO, all the BS channels, etc...I was renting 2 HD/DVR boxes, and one HD box

For my internet, I was using AT&T, 8 mbps $47

Today, the deal I got from AT&T U-Verse was...

U300 package, includes pretty much every channel with Showtime and Starz. (they also threw in HBO and Cinemax).

They are giving me 1x HD/DVR box, which can record 4 shows at once, plus you can watch any DVRed show in any room, plus two regular boxes...all FO FREE!

Internet upgraded to 12 mbps...

House phone 250 minutes.

$250 visa gift card

No fees, installation charges, etc...nothing!

At the end of the day, this deal (above) they gave me was $137 TOTAL!!!!

So in conclusion, I was paying $187 with Direct TV/AT&T.

Now, I am saving $50 a month, plus I am getting more channels, a home phone line, and $250 Visa gift card!!! ....and its not costing me a dime out of pocket!

Anyone have U-Verse? Is it the bomb.com or what?

$147 sounds like the promo rate we got. Then it goes back up to about $190 if you want to keep the premium channels.

As far as performance, our Internet has never dropped, and the box has only frozen up on us a couple of times and the reboots are faster than anything we had with TWC.

No matter where you go, you're going to pay an arm and a leg, so you might as well go for uninterrupted service. Uverse is good that way.

I am not a big premium channel guy, in fact the only reason we have HBO or Sho is because we enjoy the shows that come on Sunday nights (dexter, broadway empire, weeds, etc...)

I am thinking about getting the service called Vudu....anyone use that? The way Vudu has been explained is that if we like a show that comes on Sho like Dexter, we can stream it for 0.99 per show. So any show you like will cost you b/w $4-5 a month depending on frequency.

It's going to sky rocket when their promos disappear. In the new place we got Direct TV and TWC Internet. I used to have Uverse... It's great if you drink chapagne out of lobster discarded tails

Really? They said my bill will only go up like $30. I dont need 12mbps, so I could downgrade that, and as I said before, I dont care too much about the premiums.
