Matt Spaeth who was Olsen's replacement, did not practice and is questionable(gameday decision). Chris Harris probably won't play.

They take a hit to their secondary, and we take a hit to ours.

yeah, i've been hearing the same thing about harris. he won't be playing.

in fact harris himself said he won't be playing.

@mikecwright Michael C. Wright

Team officially lists Harris as questionable. Here's what he said though: "’It's disappointing not being able to play. But we’ve got the guys who can go out there and get the job done, and they will get the job done on Sunday."

good.

Harris is likely out

LAKE FOREST, Ill. -- Chicago Bears safety Chris Harris tweaked his injured hamstring at practice Wednesday, delaying his return to the starting lineup, according to a source familiar with the situation.

Harris participated fully in Wednesday's workout before suffering the setback that caused the club to hold him out of Thursday's practice session. He is unlikely to play Sunday against the Carolina Panthers.

Who is next on the Bears safety depth chart? I know they play two deep to limit big plays, but can we see some 9's from Smitty for long yardage plays?

Edit: It looks like the Bears other safety Major Wright may also be out with a neck problem. Two new starters at safety can only help our offense.

Looks like they are going with Meriweather at FS, Major Wright at SS... what bears fans seem to be saying about it anyways.

So Davis was Olsen's replacement?
they drafted davis in '08. spaeth was someone they picked up in the offseason. they saw him as a blocking TE, but they haven't really been successful with that.

not sure they "replaced" olsen. they picked up someone that was supposed to do but isn't doing what they thought olsen should have been doing but couldn't even though he actually could.

or something like that.

So Lovie knocks Olsen for not being a good blocker, and still hasn't gotten a TE that can block, what a dumbass.

    • What has he won, maybe 5 games in 2 years?  His play has improved, but you have to consider that he REQUIRES a $100m OL to be successful, so it seems. He had a good November and December.  Before that, he was going to be cut.  We have time to see more, and I realize the cost goes up.  In my view, any player who sucks for 2 years and then the light comes on should give that team a hometown discount.  We could have traded him away for a conditional pick.  We could have benched him permanently and ruined his brand.  Instead, they showed faith in him and we took losses while he was figuring it out making over $500k per game.  It hurt the fan base, it hurt merchandising, ticket sales, etc.  We had more jerseys from visiting teams in our stands humiliating us at home while a first overall draft pick is figuring it out. Then after everyone sacrificed for him, if he were to demand top dollar I would take that personally.  I know, twisted thinking.  Not how bizness works, but I do not think I can give him $30m per right now when I feel slimy giving him $10m on his rookie deal.  Still, I am hopeful that his growth continues.
