Thomas Davis NOT Retiring

Very interesting video.

It also leaves me with some questions:

How many times can they take part of the patella tendon to make a new ACL?

Has he already gotten a cadaver tendon..or is that next?

Did the same doc do the other surgeries?

Does he just need to give his knee longer to get strong enough to take NFL stress?

I thought that too. It occurred to me, and this is just a guess, but the long healing process that takes place after the surgery is that tendon growing back to how it was before, allowing it to keep being done. That'd mean that the faster you rush back, the less strong that tendon is, of course, and obviously NFL players are in a hurry to get back.

I would assume he has had two cadaver tendons cause there is a 85% Chance that you re-tear within the first year. I know many people who have had them and had to go back and get another surgery. Its quicker and recovery is under a year but its not as stable a the tendon. Most doctors use either the Hamstring or Patella to reconstruct the ACL and both are much stronger than the Cadaver tendons and a re-tear is almost unheard of in normal activity. Recovery time is much greater and is def a year or more.

The tendon does not grow back. Its just a strip of tendon that is placed in the knee with a screw. If you mean the Patella tendon it would heal well before you would play football and would be just as strong as it was before. That why I suspect Davis has had two ligaments placed in his knee not tendons. Its faster but its not as secure.

When i found out davis tore his acl for the 3rd time, in two years...man i felt bad for the guy, knowing he'll prolly never be the beast we knew him to be.

Davis is a football man. It is his life. He's more passionate about football than all of us fans.

I'm not one to tell the man he can't rehab, and can't comeback. The man has more heart, and determination that most people i know.

I EXPECTED him to want to comeback.

There is nothing wrong with it. Sad that so many of you would even think to tell the man to hang up his cleats.

Can the panthers rely upon him? Definately not.

So what's the problem? Stop pretending like the panthers would rely on him.

I wish davis the best.

I would love to see him on the field again. No question.
