Why don't we wait until we aren't 3 games into the season to start demanding we have made this HUGE mistake and oh gawd we spentz too much moneyz on DeAngelo he will never perform again hes old (he's 28 btw) hes washed up.

You know who else people said that about?

Steve Smith.

oh those pesky facts do the trick every time

yeah....

but week 1 of 2008 we rode Williams as a key cog to the upset in SD. He missed 100 yards by 4 I think......he showed up BIG week 1 that year. Now if you post the stats in the manner he did.......it looks like Williams was a nonfactor.

Just a little FYI

First game hitting +100 rushing yds. in a game

2007: wk 6

2008: wk 5

2009: wk 6

I see a trend there....everyone knows he starts late....how about we wait until after the season is half over to start demanding the money back.

How about we paid him 43 million dollars to not suck half of the season.

I know and remember. I just don't believe for a second that he'll be this stagnant all season long. And if he is, won't be the first time I'm wrong.

We are NOT the same team we have been. D-Lo and Stewie are not going to get 1100 yds anymore. He might have some good games from here on out, but get used to this. This is what our team is now. They'll get their runs in, they'll catch passes as they've been doing, and Cam will throw it all over the place. This is the new Carolina Panthers. Think of them as... GAG, Marion Barber when he was with the... GAG, Cowboys. The offense went through... GAG, Romo, not the HB. But Barber played a big role.

We had a short offseason, and did not have enough time to teach a whole football team a new offense from scratch. These guys, OL, RBs, and FBs are all still learning.

Then, once the players learn what to do individually, they have to learn to take on their new roles together as a unit. Our run game is still a work in progress, and it should continue to improve as they all gain game experience.

Yes, it does seem like Stewart has had more early success than DWill so far this season, but give Deangelo a few more weeks before you critisize him, or ask what is wrong with him. He may not be playing like he did in 2008 right now, but I am a firm believer in the 2 RB system.

This thread is going to look real funny if Stewart were to get hurt, and Deangelo starts finding the holes and plays well in Stew's absence. I hope that doesnt happen, just trying to be realistic here.

this is always a concern.

you only have to go back to '05 to see the importance of having a deep bench at RB. and yes...i know this isn't the same team, but you have to be prepared. if you have talent like 34 & 28 on your roster, you keep it and build around it.

you make a team stronger by building around your strengths. there will be times when having those two guys working in tandem will be crucial for us.

meh....dead horse subject.

I want to see someone open a hole for DeAngelo before I start criticizing him or setting a time table. Right now, Stew is having more success because he can open his own holes and break more tackles.

so what's going to happen when stewart doesn't have to make his own holes?

all of a sudden he's going to take a step backwards?

he's in midseason form now. he's not going to slow down.

I am glad that they gave DWill & TD the contracts that they did.

It shows younger guys that they can and will be taken care of by the team in the future should they take care of the team. Especially after the entire Peppers fiasco.

A lot of people are going to complain, and they have ample reason to. I just hope that it's not because they're still thinking the best football teams are the ones you get out of the microwave. Not everything instant is better.
