Since Jake's contract is up after this season, who will be our QB in 2010?

If Jake had a better arm he would be a pretty damn good qb.

His flaws imo:

1 Throws behind WRs when if just lead off they could have scored

2 Overthrows WRs

3 Instead of throwing to the open man he will chuck it to Smith to make a play(cant always blame him for that)

4 Doesn't see check down routes(related to 3)

5 Bad pocket presence( when you see that DE come around the corner, you know Jake is going to fumble)

His positives

1. Great leader

2. Has the Smith connection

3. Has 4th qtr magic

4. Has great zip on the ball(used to anyway)

5. Usually finds someone open. I thought he was pretty dependable most of the season. So he makes decent reads.

So I think a little strengthening on that arm will serve him well. And I have an idea of maybe sitting Smith out of TC and just have Jake familiar with all of the WRs and help him spread the ball around. Maybe some more 3 WR sets in the offense will help him get a little more comfortable when he has to open up the offense say if the running game isn't working.

Why does everyone say that he fumbles a lot, cause he doesn't. He's had 2 fumbles since 05 and 4 if you count 05, he's only lost one fumble in that time. Manning has 3 fumbles and one lost in that same time period. Romo has 11 fumbles and 4 lost since the start of the 06 season.

Just because its so predictable. You know when he is going to fumble. You will always hear an oh sh1t from me when you see a DE come around the corner.

Why are you directing that at me? You should be directing at the one who made the bogus comparsion.

:mad2:

No one compared them. All you need to do is go back and read the thread and you will see that a question was posed as to what other QB had thrown X amount of ints in a playoff game the past 5 years. X-Clown merely answered the question, he never compared the QBs.

Thank you.

To get back to the question that was asked earlier, Chad Pennington also threw 4 INTs in this year's opening round playoff loss to the Ravens.

I am used to the fact that now and forever on here if you try to counter some people about Jake, they automatically think you are saying or you believe that he's an elite QB.
it's old and tired but still slightly humorous that the hatred is so strong it makes people predictable.

you say he isn't as bad as they think he is and they call you a nuthugger. you show that he doesn't fumble as much as they think and they still say he fumbles all the time. you show that there are other QBs... prominent ones... who have had games just as bad in the playoffs and you aren't allowed to mention them because they aren't in the same class, as if they are anymore excused from playing horribly because they are considered elite?

if you don't think that jake is the worst QB in the league and that we no chance to win because of him then you are a moron. it's pretty funny.

And IMO Chad Pennington is still worth a hillion jillion Jay Cutlers. People need to realize that a great arm and some athleticism alone do NOT a great or even winning QB make. Flashy skills alone do NOT = great for your football TEAM...T...E...A...M.

It does make you wonder how many other QBs they have watched play more than a few games...that's for SURE. And it is funny how facts don't necessarily get in people's way.

Perhaps the issue is not # of fumbles or number of interceptions but the timing of those turnovers and if they lead to a score; how many were in the redzone were we lost a scoring opportunity and how many fumbles were deep in our own territory, within our 30 or less that lead to a score.

Timing is everything. It seems many of his turn-overs are huge momenteum swings.

I suppose we could say that the play called and the blocking scheme called should have accounted for a rush in x position, but, it is stil lthe responsibillity of the QB to protect the ball.

I go to games, if anyone of this board says they do not hold their breath when they see Delhomme under a rush live or on TV, when he is back to pass, they are not being truthfully. He does not have the greatest pocket presence and he holds the ball too long.

This is not news. Bulger for example, is another one. It is not just Delhomme; but, who cares about Bulger.

But if people complain about that, they shouldn't be wanting Cutler who was worse on all those I believe and according to Joyner the worst decision maker in the whole NFL. Jake is actually pretty darned good at not turning it over in the RZ most of his career.
