Since Jake's contract is up after this season, who will be our QB in 2010?

Over the last 5 years (remember Jake has missed a full season/ 16 games in this time period) Payton Manning has 20,743 yards, Bree's has 20,645 yards, Delhomme has 14,024 (if you give him his full season back, with his average of 3200 yards then he's up there at 17,200 yards, Only 3,000 back from the two best qb's over a 5 year span while playing for a run first team. Not saying he's as good as them, but he's a good qb. For god's sake he had a bad game. Get over it, he's still the QB. We aren't trading for Cutler or anyone else.

I've always wondered this. Why is it that Jake is a joke to fans of every other team in the league, every analyst, gets trashed by ex-Panthers that have had to play with him, gets no respect from opposing defenses because of how inaccurate he is and how awful his pocket presence is, yet people on the Huddle constantly say he's a good quarterback lol?

Who has trashed him besides for Meshaun...... not accurate??????? How about a career accuracy percentage of 59.7 when he throws more deep balls per attempt then any other QB...... Like I posted in another Post he lead all qb's in Air Yards per attempt in 2008. Meaning his passes on average were longer then any other qb in the league in regards to yards through the air.

I just love how people KNOW exactly what's going on in Fox's head at all times. We got some smart people here... :D

Well, he is about the most predictable human being in recorded history.

That's easy to say, but hard to swallow. You don't have a clue...

Buck's trashed him plenty of times too. They're the only two ex-Panthers to have media gigs now that I'm aware of and both of them have admitted how frustrating it was to have him as their QB.

I am still quite curious as to why they haven't restructured Jake's contract, that alone would relieve some cap room and on top of that, if they keep him another few years, that would probably answer a lot of questions.

Otherwise, if they don't have a deal in place by this summer, my logic is that Jake's tenue in Carolina could be winding down. As some have said, this might be a proving year for Jake to see if he is worthy of an extension with the team.

I guess we'll see but I think we will see a lot of answers on draft weekend be answered.

And yes, inaccurate. Jake was one of only three starting QBs this season that finished their years with more picks than touchdowns.

not correct for the regular season, but I guess whichever stat works for the argument, right?

you mean 16 touchdowns and 17 picks counting the playoff game???? The playoff game where the coach's left him out to hang by abandoning the run after the first drive???? Yea he played a bad playoff game, but that game wasn't only his fault. He had one tip by smith, another one where smith ran his route too deep in the endzone, when he went behind the defense instead of in front of it. The playoff game where our defensive strategy was to leave Fitzgerald alone?????? that game?

What about farve??? The great qb who had 22 touchdowns and 22 picks in the regular season..... QB's who are gunslinger's they will tend to have bad games...just saying. For his career he has 116 touchdowns - 76 picks. and a completion percentage at 60 percent (59.7)...I wouldn't call that inaccurate. Also your using a season in which he was coming off of TMJ surgery which is known to cause consistency problems.

Like I said Jake is this team's QB for next season, get over it already.

Challenge: Find a quote from a former Panther player that actually played with Jake that says something glowing about him. The only quotes I've read from people that have been willing to go on the record are negative.

So the regular season is more important than the playoffs? LOL and *I* am the one bending things for my own argument? If you can give me one good reason why we shouldn't consider playoff stats I'd be willing to hear you out.

I posted one why that game shouldn't be counted. The coaches and their play calling in that game on both sides of the ball, left him out to hang.
