Peppers conference call recap

The way JP left this organization was unprofessional when we gave him everything he wanted. And all he gave us was an FU. NOT ONCE, NOT ONCE has he thanked the fans of Carolina, or our Team.

"I'm thankful for everything they've done for me and I don't want to leave them crippled or in a bad situation, and I don't want to do that to myself, either"

NOT ONCE? NOT ONCE?

FWIW, I listened to it and he didn't sound "arrogant" to me. He's clearly not comfortable talking to the press, but that's nothing new.

Agree. He didn't sound arrogant to me at all.

JP is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I heard nothing that would make for good motivational material for the Panthers; it was just a stumbling, mumbling collection of inane questions and not-very-insightful answers.

Reporter: "Julius, do you want to win this game?"

Julius: "Yes, I want to win this game"

That is award winning stuff there.

Yeah, they set up plenty of opportunities for him to take a jab at the Panthers and he passed.

Meanwhile he talked about how much he liked it here and how proud he was of CJ.

Truth is, Peppers would have stayed if we made him a competitive offer - but we didn't - so he went somewhere that he was wanted and he's happy where he's wanted.

Even if a lot of Panther fans hate the guy. He'll always be a Carolina boy.

With how popular he is and has been over his career, if he retires with around 130-140 sacks, 50+ FF, he'll be a first ballot HOFer.

That said, I hope Newton makes him look as silly as he made Matthews look on a couple of plays. I hope Gross , Otah/Bell make him absolutely miserable this game. As unlikely as it is, I'd even like to see Olsen successfully block the guy a couple times, as a big "F.U" to the Bears that insinuated he couldn't block to save his life.

At first I hated Pep, but honestly it worked out great for both sides with CJ's emergence. We had some good memories Pep, but its time to move on.

Guy is a freak though, if he had Smitty's heart, Holy poo. That would be the scariest human being alive.

he doesn't owe you a damn thing. So fug you for thinking the world revolves around you. You are being the arrogent sob that you are claiming him to be.

How was he unprofessional?

Cause he turned down an offer?

I've turned down many offers since i've been at the job i'm at. I've even talked down towards the position i was offered. But it wasn't worth it.

I use to be amazed with the ignorance you blow out your ass. Now i just expect nothing but ignorance from you.

Peppers is more of a professional than you could ever be.

Peppers was arrogant in that a very marginal amount of money SUPPOSEDLY separated us from the Bears. We were prepared to make him the highest paid DE in the league the year before and he declined. All because he felt he didn't "deserve it". Bullpoo, like any premier player in the league "deserves" 90 million dollars. He dragged it out as long as he could take the big check of the franchise tag and then he left. It had nothing to do with the .5% difference in the Panthers and Bears offer.

It doesn't bother me that the dude wanted to leave or that he wanted a change of scenery. He just wasn't upfront about it and tried to make it a money issue when it clearly wasn't. He blew Jerry's statements out of proportion so he could look victimized. If he just wanted to go somewhere else that's fine. But 30 yrs old seems a little late to think about moving away from a place like Mooresville. He could have easily lived elsewhere during his time here. But if he just wanted a new team then so be it.

The fact that Jerry pissed him off because he wanted to challenge him shows cowardice and arrogance. He was only professional at face value. But that's ok Peppers can go ahead and be complacent. He's found a team that's willing to let him disappear when they need him and still collect the big check at the end of the year. I'm glad it's good enough for the Bears, because it's not for the Panthers.
