Chudzinski already being eyed for a HC position?

• For people looking at interesting coaching prospects, it should be noted that Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Rob Chudzinski has done some interesting things. So far, No. 1 overall pick Cam Newton(notes) is faring much better than expected in leading the Panthers to a 1-2 record. More impressive, it was Chudzinski who helped turn Derek Anderson(notes) into a Pro Bowler in 2007 (29 TD passes, 19 interceptions). Although things fell apart in Cleveland the following season when injuries hit, Anderson threw 38 touchdown passes compared to 27 interceptions with Chudzinski. For the rest of his career, Anderson’s totals are 15-28.

Of course this is very premature but it's just interesting to see pundits already throwing out his name...

Ha remember when Jack Del Rio was our DC through the SB run and then the next year he became Jags HC. The after Del Rio left for the HC postion. Our D slowly went down hill from there. I'm not saying Chud is all of a sudden a OC guru and getting us 3 straight wins already. But if Chud leaves then Cam might regress like Derek Anderson did with the Browns the Chud left. Ron needs to convince him to stay if he get a HC offer.:svengo:

Actually the defense didn't get that much worse. In fact the 2005 version under Trgo was better than the Del Rio version in points allowed which is the only stat. Chud was also in Cleveland the year after he was an All-pro when due to injuries the team struggled and he regressed.

just sayin..................

Have to say that while he took what amounts to a demotion in the move to San Diego, considering the staff there it was another plus on his resume. It was, after all, Cleveland.

Here in Carolina, everything's coming up roses for him up to this point. He has a #1 pick, rookie QB on the fast track to possible franchise status. The stacked TE corps has all the elements he needs (youth, veteran presence) at the position he identifies with the most. Now he has to utilize them and hope the rest of the offense fits together. I still think it will take weeks more to burn the new playbook in, but we'll see how quickly the offense matures.

No way he steps off this boat until he gets solid results, and at his age (43) he has plenty of time to ascend the NFL coaching ladder. I also think being on the same staff as Rivera in SD is a huge plus for the stability there. They've both committed to Carolina, I like our future with them.

    • No one is asking him to be Tom Brady. They're just asking him to be as good if not better than Cooper Rush, Jimmy Garoppolo and Carson Wentz. We'd like Young to be better than Sam Darnold and Baker Mayfield, but we're not even asking for that. No matter how you cut it he's going to be considered a bust for what was given up for him. He should be outpacing Cam Newton, Jake Delhomme and Kerry Collins game for game in their careers. He should at least be challenging the clutch level of Brady, Mahomes, Stafford, Goff, Garoppolo, Burrow, Hurts and Purdy. Remember that's based on the draft capital given up for Young, and not the extremely low bar Young has actually set for himself.
    • Even if you cherry pick Bryce post benching and ignore everything else and project it out over a full season….. there is no statistical  argument Kyler has ever been worse.   I’m no Murray fan as I agree he is more athlete than QB.   And I’m open to Bryce improving and support us continuing to develop him as this point.
    • We need LBs--build the roster from the bottom up.  On offense, we have Coker who has been huge...if you fill your weaknesse without having to use free agent $$$ or draft picks--win win.
