ESPN Insider --> Could a Peppers-for-Cutler deal solve an impending Carolina problem

not arguing.

just stating the panthers aren't doing anything.

they aren't allowed to. they did everything they can do. they can't do anything else until pep finds a trade partner.

not saying you are one of these people, but there are some who don't understand that the panthers aren't doing anything right now but watching and waiting to see what pep finds. that is all they are allowed to do.

see...that wasn't arguing. it was stating. if what i am saying isn't different than what you are saying there is no disagreement.

:cheers2: no worries

I would do Peppers for Cutler before I would do 1-2nd round pick for Peppers. Bottom line you have to have both players willing to sign a long term deal. I wouldn't take Cutler if he is only gonna be here a year or two. The Broncos won't make the trade for Peppers just for one season.

What I do believe, whether this story is true or not. This should raise the bar on Peppers value from N.E. I will be furious if we get only a 2nd out of the deal.

I think the F.O. gave too much up for Otah but we took a chance and won. This time we are in the drivers seat. Peppers is OURS and if he wants to play next year for someone else then his agent will have to get someone to ante up for him. No way do we get little or nothing in return.

Go Panthers

Peppers is garbage and disappears in big games but we should get either a teams best players or multiple 1st picks in exchange for him? man the offseason if brutally boring. it brings out the crazy in us. I say we trade Jake and Pep to the Rockets for Yao Ming and Ron Artest. A seven foot QB and a schizo that will kick a$$ over a cup of beer! Who is with me?

jay cutlers career stats: record as starter-9-12

1. above is jakes career stats versus cutlers career. cutlers is a lil better but not by much considering jake has been around alot longer.

2. why would u want to mess up the chemisty that the starting qb has with a team that just went 12-4

3. like i said before the nfl is business first. any player can be traded onany day no matter who he is.

4. any rookie qb that can step in at the middle of the season lead his team which is full of injuries to a 2-1 record is fine with me. what more do u need to see?

5. look at the saints. great offense. horrible defense. what have they done lately? nothing. DEFENSE wins championships. its been said many times on this site this teams trys to be like the steelers. which IMO is a very good thing. u dont do that by getting rid of ur best d-lineman for a qb and do the best u can on defense

1. That is my point wait till Culter has started as many games as Jakes and compare their careers. Nothing is for sure in the NFL, but if I had to guess Cutlers stats will kill Jake's. I love Jake he has been a great leader and hero for our team, but you should never keep a guy past his prime just because you love what he has done. He may not be past his prime yet, but he is getting dangerously close. Plus the funny thing is Cutler right now cost a good bit less than Jake.

2. That is what training camp is for. I dont think it will take Smith and the other WR long to love Cutler.

3. Good point, but doesnt this count for Jake as well. I really dont blame Cutler. He is a very competitive person, and if he sees a chance to get out of a place where he does not feel like the coaches and owner are bettering the team around him why not leave. That coach is nuts. He will not be there long. Cutler wants to win now, and he probably could do that here.

4. I cant really talk bad about Moore, we have yet to see what he is really capable of. I am just not sold on him being the leader of a super bowl contender. I hope I am wrong because it looks like the coaches believe in him.

5. I agree with you here. I believe in a powerful D and smash mouth O. Look how fast Fox turned our OL into one of the best. They were a joke 2 years ago. Last year he made it happen. We may take a step back this year with this trade, but I bet we would still make the playoffs. And with Fox's knowledge of defense, I think he could tun our D into a power house the next year. You always have to look ahead. With our offensive stars under contract until 2012 we have a few more years to build a great D to go with that great O.

I understand you point. We are all Panthers fans, and I dont mean any disrespect by this, but to think that our O is better with Jake than it would be with Cutler is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

People said the same thing about Jeff George repeatedly, until he finally wore out his welcome.

"He has so much skill and athleticism. That's worth a little attitude, right?"

Turns out it wasn't.

Whats with this Jeff George stuff? I dont see the comparsion.

Jeff George did have cool hair though

Since Jeff George took Atlanta to the Superbowl and Cutler can't even get the broncos in the playoffs, maybe your right there isn't one until Cutler improves.

i thnk that because of the type of QB jay is. jay cutler is a gun slinger QB he wants to throw the ball 30 times a game, he wants 4 wr sets, and he wants to throw for 4500 yards a year. he would not fit well in our run first and pass when we have to system. the type of QB we need is someone like kerry collins was for the titans this year. a game manager. someone who makes the throws that counts, when its needed and doesnt make mistakes. a high profile QB that jay cutler is would not be happy here. and would end up begging for a trade again just like he is now. i agree jake makes some stupid mistakes sometimes. and i agree that the game against arizona he was a big reason we lost. but for the most part jake has been that game manager QB that has led us on tons of game winning drives and always seems to come up with the big throw when it counts.

I dont think he wants to throw the ball that much, as much as it is a have to. He had no RB or D. But I am sure this thread is a waste anyway. I dont see it happening for several reasons. I think the Broncos will want more than just Peppers for him, and we got nothing else to give them anyway. He is a great QB and comparing him to Jeff George is BS. George never put up the numbers that Cutler has.

The comparison between Cutler and george was mentioned on NFL Sirous the Opening Drive this morning. They were comparing the 2 and saying that George may have had the best arm in football, better than Cutler. But he was arrogant and had an attitude and got moved from team to team because he couldn't get along with coaches. As a result his career never took off consistently although he had some good years and he never developed into what he could have been. They are saying that Cutler has some of those same qualities and it is possible that a trade to a team like Cleveland for example could set Cutler on a tailspin as it did George when he went from team to team and never did half of what was expected from him.

Don't know whether it would or could happen but the comparison between the 2 is more than the immagination of a random huddler. They also mentioned that there was an article in a Denver paper this morning mentioing the same although I don't have a link.
