Armanti Edwards

The fact of the matter is Edwards just doesn't have good hands. He doesn't hit the hole as a return man and is certainly far from dynamic. Any time he receives punts it is a gamble. Dont get me wrong I think he has a lot of potential but his overall fundamentals need a lot of work to play at this level.

I agree to disagree with you on the hands and hitting the open holes(there aren't many and when he does hit one, someone totally out of the play gets the play called back for something stupid). He does need to work more on fundamentals of the positions he is being asked to play. That will come with time as he is trying to pack into one year what the others have had 4+ years of experience in. He is having to totally reverse his mindset from QB to receiver and I would imagine that to be very difficult. I have the confidence in him to do just that and return to the natural, fluid, electric, athletic player that he is.

Rightttt. But you at least can agree with the fact that he was part of the win. The offense had struggled maintaining drives all day and this return gave them a short field to work with. It was huge for the crowd and i'm sure was a big boost to the offense.

Yeah he was part of the win. Totally agree on that. If he muffs one of those punts, it changes the entire game.

Well here is to hoping that day doesn't come when the game is on the line. I could only imagine what would've happened had he made the fourth guy miss(more than a 1/3 of the entire coverage team) and he had broken it all the way. That's what I was hoping for but the end result ended up being just a nice.

I personally would like to see a receiver who can catch Newtons balls of fire consistently.

Don't feed the Armanti trolls too much, PF49 and Panthro being two of the biggest on this forum.

I don't consider myself a troll. (some may) I actually want him to succeed and to be a productive WR for the Panthers. I asked how long do I need to be patient for and I will shut up until then. I won't bring it up anymore. End of the season? Next year? What if he still hasn't broken into the line up next year....do I wait until 2013? just tell me.

I expect him to be contributing in the passing game some by the end of the year. If he hasn't cracked the starting group by next year, I will not complain about anyone not giving him time.

You just contradicted yourself in a most egregious manner.

Steve Smith...he's #3 in the NFL is yardage.

With multiple dropped passes that could have landed him at number one even with is dismal performance last week. Being #3 doesn't mean he hasn't dropped balls it just means he's being targeted a lot and a lot have been deep balls. The short passes he starts to turn and run before he secures the ball and then there's a drop. I'd guess Cam probably has one of the tighter spirals Steve has seen just because of Cams arm strength and hand size. LaFail, as some have dubbed him, hasn't dropped as many passes. Granted he hasn't been targeted as often as Steve.

Except he cost us twice as much as Jarrett. I have already filled him right beside E.Brown as Hurney fug ups. Just like Brown he works his ass off but is just not that good.

Well then it's a good thing no ones opinion on here matters. One season and one year in on a 3rd(2nd) ,notice the third comes first , draft pick. I say that because we did get our second round draft pick that draft. You can use what ever logic you want to fuel your misconception of Armanti. He wasn't given a chance last year by any of the coaches and he was drafted a project. The organization made sure everyone knew he wasn't expected to come in and make an immediate impact and it could take well into his second year to actually produce(which he finally did last game in the fifteen yard return, making multiple guys miss) setting up the GW drive. Finally got some action rotating in at WR. He's going be used a little more in every game I believe.

Personally i'm thinking next season with the return of Gettis, Nanee gets cut and we use a mid round draft choice on another WR. I see Tutu as providing depth but nothing more. If AE doesn't show up this season then i'd say he's on the hot seat.

Three games in no fumbles and a return that helped boost the offense in for the win, i'd say its a good start for a project player.

He almost broke his last punt return. Rivera has already said that they have five receivers, 3 wide outs and 2 tight ends. He's got 3 guys in front of him. Still not sure why Nannee is still getting all the number 2 reps or why he's still even playing but whatever. Give LaFell all of Nannee's reps and then let Armanti and Legedu split the number 3 reps.

Agree.

To extrapolate your thoughts even further, here are our leading receivers based on receptions:

Smith- 16 catches 349 yards

Stewart- 13 catches, 140 yards

Olsen- 12 catches- 169 yards

Shockey-9 catches 137 yards

LaFell-8 catches,109 yards

Williams, 7 catches, 46 yards

Here are the questions people need to ask?

Exactly who is Edwards going to supplant? How many catches do you think a 3rd or 4th receiver on the team will get?? I mentioned this before the season when people wanted to add all these receivers on the team. There won't be many passes.

Edwards is fine as a returner. Getting winded running as a receiver all day makes little sense when we have all this production in front of him. He will get his chances and I think he will break one this year as a returner.

Im all for giving him time, but dude, I have to ask. . have you actually watched a game?

Doesnt hit the hole? looked fine to me.

Doesnt have good hands? how many times has he been thrown at and how many closed practices have you sat in on with the coaches?

Anytime he receives a punt its a gamble? It was last year maybe. He looks pretty good this year. . . actually better than that, he looks pretty damn good. He's made nice adjustments to the ball in the air and mostly has made the right call when to fair catch or not.

There so much compensation for people who think that AE is getting too much love and they just gotta say how bad he is. . cause you know. . . its their job n chit to regulate the world and keep it all even.
