Armanti Edwards

cutting him after 2 years would be pathetic, but I wouldn't expect fanatics to keep things in perspective..

Why would it be pathetic? I'll concede there's room for argument, but "pathetic" is a strong word on either side of the debate.

There's no tolerance for "projects". I don't think you'll see any of that philosophy in future drafts---if you do, it will reflect a bigger problem between the front office and the staff.

Or... I don't believe there has ever been a fan base more blind by homerism with a "project player" who will not pan out in the history of the nfl.

the guy has no opportunity to play last year and is switching to a position he's never played. Agreed that App state homers are ridiculous, but take the name out of it, all receivers usually require 3 years to adapt... unless they are 1st round draft picks.. sure, there are exceptions..

so with that said, yes it's pathetic to have so much hate towards a guy who appeared to show he could turn out to be a solid player over the preseason..

Charlotte Catholic,Independence, Providence, Butler...

We can call it 5 then....

Dolphins (Moore), Colts (Painter), Seahawks (Jackson) , Browns (Colt McCoy), Vikings (McNabb)

Edwards is a QB. He killed it in college and before you say he didn't play anyone, just look at his numbers against LSU. He deserves a shot at QB in the NFL. He is not a WR or PR and it's a shame he is being misused the way that he is.

I'm not an App state fan and honestly could careless about the guy, but his numbers don't lie.

That's fair. People bashed Fox for not playing the kid. But Rivera isn't either. If Armanti was showing ANY signs of him being able to handle this, he'd be out there. Let's not have another Jarrett situation where he sticks around. Yes, I get it, Jarrett was an actual WR. But if Armanti shows no signs of life by year's end they need to think it over in the off-season.

How do those numbers translate to NFL talent?

Rest easy, friend. Your wish will come true.

I think after next year we can make a solid conclusion and if he's still absent from games, I'm right there with you. Of course, that's just my opinion..

are you saying that because he isn't beating out Shockey, Olsen, Smitty and Naanee he should be cut? what's that mean for LaFell? Edwards clearly isn't being trusted just yet to be the Victor Cruz he could be.. I think it's reasonable to give him an additional year considering he isn't keeping anyone valuable off the roster as of yet..

based on reports, Naanee is on the field primarily to help keep the plays right on the field.. so obviously there's so much more to it than "Edwards isn't on the field, so he must suck"..

by no means am I saying he'll be awesome or incredible.. I'm just saying it's way to early to have so much hate towards him like a Jarrett who earned every bit of the fans venom..

I will admit AE did improve in the PR game this year from last year and I will give the kid till next TC but I expect more talent to be drafted and signed to give competition because if he does not beat out everyone next year he needs to be gone not given a pass like Jarrett.

AE is twice the punt return man that he was last year. Not only is he catching the ball, but he is also getting some return yards.

AE will probably never be worth what the Panthers gave up to get him, but he also probably has a safe spot on the roster for the next two years.

I do think that most fans' impatience with AE stems from the absurd trade for his draft rights and the downright stupid ASU homerism that has invaded this board.

    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
    • 6-10 carries for  35-45 yds and 3-5 catches for 15-25 would be great.
