Armanti Edwards

Don't know if any of you watched DWill's podcast this week, but he gave the best defense of Naanee to date. Basically, he said that there are times in the huddle where there is some confusion about the play or where to line up, etc., and that Naanee is good at sorting that out. So think of him as a coach on the field when it comes to the offense.

If that is true, then in the 2nd half of the year, you may see Naanee eased out of the offense. He just is not that talented of a football player. Others will begin to understand the offense better, and we are more likely to see more of LaFell and Edwards and Tutu.

That makes so much sense. Now it's obvious why he's still playing

had some drops in the preseason but also had some really nice catches. was targeted often so he is getting open which is promising. has ups and downs. sounds like a rookie.

since he played the qb for the practice squad last year this really is kind of his rookie year as an official wide reciever. jury is still out

Not reading all of this, but with our red zone offense issues...why not use Armanti in to mix it up.

Start drive out...get Armanti in there for a couple of plays in the slot just to make the defenses think we'll use him, but run a couple or runs or screens. Once you get into the red zone (even closer to goal line where we have problems), come out of huddle into a wildcat formation with Armanti there and Cam as a WR. Cam's 6'5" with good hands. Armanti bootlegs out and hit Cam or just runs it in or if they double Cam...use Olsen on the back line coming the same direction as the bootleg.

So many ways to use him...I say do it

I cannot imagine why a team with Cam Newton would use anyone else to run the wildcat formation.

    • The other draft picks have turned out pretty well. Brooks will too.
    • I'm still not touching Hunter He again said the other day that he plans on playing both sides of the ball in the NFL.  If he is allowed to do that, he won't be as good on either side as his potential and he's going to have serious injury issues and have a short career.  If he's not allowed to do it, I think he's going to become a problem when the team isn't winning as he's going to feel him not being used on both sides of the ball is why. He's being coddled in that environment with Deion and I think it's doing a disservice to him to prepare him for life in the NFL where your coach isn't a 2nd father to you, to where you can just walk into his locker room and steal his shoes like Hunter does to Deion.
    • He’s a tad behind them. Around 15ish of 32 starters in the league. He’s well ahead of a lot of guys. Tua, Bryce, Cousins (present), Rodgers (current), Devito/Jones, Minshew, Russ (current), Watson, Smith, Carr, T Laws deep ball is weak as poo IMO, there’s plenty. And it’s not like everyone is ripping 60+ers. The key component is if you can rip and maintain velocity of the 30-40 yarders which he does super well. Legit every report out there from Brugler to PFF to PFN document him as good/above average arm strength.  Eye test tells me it’s pretty much that as well, slightly above average.
