After watching Breaking Bad last night and then this..... man, this show is becoming a bore. The issue is, it will NEVER top season 4 with Lithgow.... ever.

i think they could top season 4, but they're not even trying for various reasons, one of them being that they believe they "can't top season 4"

others being waning interest by michael c hall possibly. he seems like the kind of guy that wants to do a wide variety of things, and will eventually feel imprisoned by teh role

My thoughts exactly. To be fair though, BB started a little slow this season too, and we're comparing them just as BB's story is peaking. But you're right, you definitely got the feeling watching them back to back that clearly the superior show was coming on at 10. I love Dexter and have been a Hall fan since David Fisher was one if my favorite TV characters of all time...but this needs to be the last season. I hope they built it up this way because I really don't want this show to get too old and predictable.

Just a few thoughts, did anyone find it pretty hokey to have Dexter show up at the reunion, only to run into--uh oh!--that wacky guy from high school who calls you by your old nickname and tells embarrassing stories!! Just thought it was a little too cliche. I'm optimistic about Hanks and Olmos, not to mention seeing how Mos Def works into this season. Also, Deb has had some pretty terrible luck with engagements and it doesn't look like this one is going to be any easier.

Yeah, I'm not really sure what that was about either. No explanation, no real motive, I guess she's just supposed to be a major league slut. We got teh boobpix out of it, which is cool and rare with Dexter, but it did give off a weird vibe. So weird to compare this to S 1 E 1 Dexter who didn't understand sex, love, and certainly not blow jobs.

I just don't like how the jock blocks his attempt to needle him, and the hero Dexter avoids a punch by ducking, and slowly chokes him out. Real life that dude would have gotten away...

but in the show's defense, i thought the reporter chick was a retarded plotline that made no sense until the end of season 4

Breaking Bad always starts slow,but the slow episodes are works of art and you KNOW it is building up. That's not the same with Dexter.

The show totally feels too different. The whole reunion thing was totally out of place. Compare him to season 1 Dex like someone did, and no way does he act like that with people that know WHO he is. If anyone goes to investigate and ask questions that knows him (i.e. Quinn or someone) and they explain how he acted at the reunion, it will look totally out of place.

Show felt really cliche for sure. I'll watch cause I'm invested, but I'm starting to think this show should have been a 4-5 season MAX show. Back when Doakes was around, it was one of the best shows, they killed him off too early for sure.

I am def happy seeing Mos Def in that role. I wonder if Dex lets Mos Def in on his dark passenger?

Last episode was much better. Mos Def is interesting, and Dexter finds him interesting too. He's interested in how this guy actually did change (so far as we know) and he'll start thinking about his own faith and if he can change. While at the same time, Hanks/Adama are out doing their crazy stuff.

I don't like the Deb promotion. I know WHY, to get back at Lagorda, but it's unrealistic that someone that new would get put in that position, but that's fine I guess.
