Not kicking a field goal on that last offensive series could have cost us the game.

I know the field was wet and everything, but i really do not understand that call. The ball was at the 32, if I recall, would've made it roughly a 50-yarder. As far as we know that's well within Mare's range (and if it's not we need a knew kicker.)

Nailing those three points would've put us up 19-10, a two-score difference, and Jacksonville's march down the field for a final drive would've been a moot point even if they did score.

Luckily the defense held, but they were put in a VERY bad position. One quick score - not a bad bet against a shaky defense - and they'd have won that game.

I don't get the call.

So if the 50+ yard fg on a wet, muddy field would have missed, do you think the Defense would have been in a better position? Or what if Munnerlyn would have caught the punt inside the 5 would that have been bad also? It was a judgement call that could go either way. I could see your argument if it was pristine conditions but not with that field.

You cant complain about a decision that worked. Really?

It's a blessing that coaches are smarter than fans, and it's not surprising.

There needs to be a way to not allow new threads to be posted that are exactly the same as other posts.

And I am so freaking glad that, people on the huddle are so much smarter than NFL coaches.

But you are right, I mean man, that was a real nail biter there at the end. I could hardly watch. Too close for comfort. (sarcasm)

The punt was the right call. Get it through your mind. You always put the rookie QB as far back as possible with no timeouts and make him beat us.

I am glad our coach trusts our defense. A 50 yard field goal in 3 inches of rain with a 6 point lead tells our defense he doesn't trust them.

And if we missed it they would have had great field position.

If the punt was executed right and Captain didn't slip. They would have had the ball on about the 2.

But like I said, I am glad you are smarter than an NFL coach.

I am totally behind that decision. Force a team that was basically two plays away from being shut out, to go 80 yards to beat you. Under todays circumstances it absolutely was the right decision.

I truly believe this coaching staff is using all these off beat situations to learn what their team can do, install their schemes, and instill a sense of growth and accomplishment. That is why I think that the play calling is in line with installing the playbook. You need to perfect one aspect before you move on the the next. And as of right now, we are still on the first page.

Or the short version for those of you who skip to the end. Until we have the passing game down we are not going to see much of the running game.

Just a thought, and GOOOOO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!!!

and yet another fuging moron thinks we should have attempted a fg

what is a baussneggar and who the fug are you

I'm not criticizing the move, I know Rivera is the coach and I am not for a reason. I'm saying I don't understand it. Given the fact that our defense is notoriously full of holes, it seems like it'd more of a liability to leave the win to the defense than to a very solid kicker in Mare.

It's all moot at this point; as several people have brought up, we won, so it was the right call when you look at it that way. It just seemed like an overly risky call to me. You all can stop pooping your pants now.
