Running Game: Stew and DWill

Finally had some running room today. Stewart looked quick and sharp cutting upfield. Counter is a good play for him. Id like to see more I-form to get the FB as a lead block though.

I cant figure out whats the deal w/ DWill. Just bad timing of a run call and the defense blitzing? He doesnt look as fast as Stewart. Maybe the ankle/foot injuries catching up to him??

Maybe defenses are keying into dwill being on the field. I noticed defenses baiting pretty hard on playactions when he's in.

It's pretty obvious the defenses are keying in hard to D-Will... Look at our play selection during those plays and look at what plays we have success with and what plays we don't.

Just seems to me that DW isn't getting through the arm tackles and JS is. JS is a lot bigger back and DW is obviously more of a speed guy. I agree that he doesn't look good at this point.

Dwill works better in the open field or with cutback lanes..stewart can just bulldose through a hole and through arm tackles. Look for Williams to break out in the Saints game.

i wouldnt mind seeing them both in at the same time and hate seeing neither of them at times.

seems like williams runs are hand offs up the gut and he is at times hesitant about hitting the holes. also, williams had a chance early game to cut one to the outside for a huge gain and cut back inside. other than that, seems williams runs are also more obvious run plays.

I also would like to see them work out of the I-form more often. I think that alone (committing to the running game) would yield a different result. Both backs would be able to pick up more yards.

Stewart had 59 yards in 10 carries. Thats actually pretty good with a very high ypc average.

As a team, our running backs had 80 yards on 21 carries. Thats not great, but it is adequate, and adequate is a significant improve over the last two games.

This has amazed me from the first game. I can't understand it. I have no idea why we continue to run Will up the middle when it never works.

If you wanna run it up the middle, at least let Stewart do that.

He seems very hesitant right now. Might be a little gunshy. I do think he will improve though.

Watch Smitty. At the line before the snap, he stands straight up on run plays. He leans forward on pass plays.
