I'm glad Cam had one of his "rookie" games now

I agree 100% that it was a good win and a good step for him in that regard, but his overall play was pretty poor as he forced balls frequently and had tremendous accuracy issues we hadn't seen in the regular season yet. He came through when it counted though and for that I am glad, not only because Cam got his first win, but because this team needed to see that if they fought hard and kept it close, even when things didn't go there way, they had an offense that could still put it together at the end of the game for the win.

Real talk, had this been last season I would have given up and turned the channel the second the Jags scored that TD in the first half.

Momentum COMPLETELY swung to the Jags and that would have killed the 2010 Panthers. They fought back and came out with a W, it wouldn't surprise me at all to see them come out swinging against the Bears.

I'm not going to lie, I felt bad going into this game. Losing is contagious and given all the losses we've had on defensive side of the ball, I expected a loss. I feel real good about our pass rush and this Bears game.

i DO NOT think Cam Newton played like crap or whatever term you used for it. I think this was probably Cam's best game. It showed what kind of winner he is. He doesn't have to throw for 4-500 yards to be good. Yes some of his passes were off but he worked through it and delivered when it mattered. And what exactly is a "rookie" game? Any QB in any game in any year can have a bad day. Or should I say bad half.

these are the games i want out of cam.

lets be real, the entire team played under niagra falls today... no quarterback in the league is going to throw for 400 in those conditions. the important thing is that he showed the ability to carry the team down the field and score. he made the plays when they counted, and he did so with no interceptions on the day.

if this is a "rookie" day we have the NFL's best quarterback for the next decade.

I'm just glad Cam has risen expectations upon himself enough that to have 200+ yards of total offense, zero turnovers, 1 TD, a game winning drive, while playing in a typhoon is now considered "complete and utter ass".

He did play like complete and utter ass up until that game winning TD drive(which I said sorta made up for it).

He overthrew multiple receivers, left points on the board, and made some really, REALLY bad throws that against a better team would have resulted in a sure loss. The weather was terrible and I hope that's the reason he was so inaccurate for most of the game.

I'll take games like this and a win all year. But being realistic, if he is this inaccurate against a team like the Bears or Saints/etc(ie not the Blaine Gabbert lead Jaguars) they will make us pay for it.

If you take the go ahead drive out of consideration you really would have to call this a bad day. I mean there were at least 2 or 3 throws that would have been INTs against a half way competent defense and a large portion of his throws were wildly inaccurate. His last drive was pretty sweet though, and if games like this didn't happen I'd begin to suspect he sold his soul to the devil Charlie Daniels style.

I still LOL at Forte complaining about the Bears apparently not thinking he's elite. The Bears and the majority of anyone else who follows the NFL...he's the epitome of average. Not bad, but nowhere near elite...he's a workhorse. He gets numbers because he's the only guy running the ball...

You're probably right. This was not a great game by him by any standard. However, keep in mind that he is just as likely to come out on fire any given game, against any given team.

So maybe he plays like crap against the Jags and lights it up against the Saints. I honestly feel that (when he is on) he is capable of contributing enough to get the team a win any Sunday.

    • The problem is that if you don't have a fully settled QB of the future, you can't take him because it's just going to create a distraction that your young QB doesn't need while you're seeing if they can be your guy.  Then you also can't take him if you have just a full on legit starting QB because Shedeur likely isn't going to sit well with knowing he has no path to playing either. Realistically at this point, only the Rams, Steelers, or maybe the Raiders make sense to take him, anyone else and it just seems like trouble waiting to happen. With the Rams and Steelers, assuming Rodgers ends up there, it would be where he knows he's going to sit for 1 year and then get the chance to take over while learning from a HOFer.  That's a situation I don't think the Sanders family would have an issue with, especially at this point.   The Raiders would be a little similar, but he could get stuck behind Geno for more than just one year.  And think about it, do you really want a frustrated Shedeur living in Las Vegas?   Beyond those 3 teams, I really can't see a situation that is going to not have all sorts of crazy media around it.... so the Cowboys will probably take him, because of course that will happen. In a way, it's Kaepernick all over again.  The media distraction that is going to come with him, especially at this point, isn't worth dealing with for a backup QB. Once the Giants and Saints went with different QB's, it really set this up to happen.
