Blaine "Chicken Scratch" Gabbert

Vagrant

For a rookie in awful conditions I thought he played pretty darn well given the various calls etc he had to face.

I think Cam did as well, but it's just that Cam's previous games make us think he played horrible.

Vagrant, I think you're confused - that was on the center. Gabbert was calling for the snap but the center didn't realize the clock was running so he didn't snap it. It should never have happened anyway, the clock should have been reset to where it was when the catch was made, then let it run, instead of running from where the replay crew decided to call a replay of it.

Ur funny...I enjoy reading ur rationale..

?

Perhaps that wasn't phrased right.

Cam played well for a rookie given the situation, but people around here made a big deal out of how bad he looked at times because of what they were used to seeing the last couple weeks.

I don't think he played bad AT ALL for a rookie, and his game winning drive was awesome there at the end.

Perhaps I should have been more specific. I thought it was hilarious that, as :16 were on the clock at the start of the play, that Gabbert did the chicken dance waiting for the snap to come to him. Lifting his leg and scratching at the dirt no less than eight times, costing him about :10 of play time, when he would have had time for 2 downs had he not done it.

he was trying to get the snap off, meester had no idea the clock was running.

as for blaine, he handles pressure as well as jimmy clasuen does, which is poorly. if he can work on that he might just be good.

meh, all rookies struggle with pressure (even those breaking records...), so we'll have to see how he handles it going forward. I thought Gabbert found some nice lanes at times but he was too quick to abandon the pocket at others. Still up in the air how he'll turn out - at least he wasn't afraid to go deep.

BG would have a bright future if he wasn't in Jax.

this could be the reality of the situation. It will depend. The good news is they won't need him to win games for them as they'll lean on the run game, so it'll allow him time to develop. The bad news is that the staff is likely on the way out, and they seem to have inherited John Fox as a playercaller.

Gabbert isn't anything special right now, but he made a couple good plays which is typically all you want out of young, developing rookie. Newton, though, is something special and I'm glad we have him.

if Cam hit a rookie wall in week 3, we're fuged. :p

nah, Cam's just a rookie and rookies tend to be inconsistent... He came through in the end though and Olsen fought hard for him, so that's all I can really ask. I also think he was injured this game and he didn't look right throwing the ball at all in the first half.
