Virtually everyone is picking us to beat the Jags

Virtually everyone is saying Cam will have another monster game. Virtually everyone is saying Blaine Gabbert will play horribly.

This is a team that has lost 16 of its past 18 games.

So I want you to ask yourself something: When was the last time the Carolina Panthers lived up to expectations in a game where everybody expected them to beat the other team down? It hardly ever happens, especially at home. So why should we expect it to happen on Sunday? Is it simply because all of that underperforming was done under Fox and Jake and we're expecting it to be different with Rivera and Cam?

I think we're going to squeak out a win and Cam will have an efficient, less eye popping game. But if you think it's a slam-dunk that Cam is going to pass for 500 yards and we're going to beat the Jags by 30, you're ignoring what's been happening with this team over the years and even what's been happening with this team in the past week. Don't be surprised and become clinically depressed if we do lose. After all, we're 2-16 over our past 18 games.

And why not considering that the following is a big part of their offense:

"As we all know the QB sneak is a very important part of our offense. Since we are a run first team we find ourselves to be in a lot of 3rd and 1 and 4th and 1 situations. The Jags MO in this situation is to run the QB sneak. Garrard was the master of the sneak, he was big enough to help move the pile. McCown...not so much. But with Gabbert in at QB we should return to the glory days of going for it on 4th down with confidence who should be able to pick of the yardage like David in his heyday!!! "

An actual post on the Jags forum. I bet it occupies 14 pages in the playbook. You van run it with 2 tight ends, no tight ends, empty backfield, full house, trips right and left...

i want to think positive and say we're gonna beat the hell out of the Jacksonville Jerkwads.

with that said, the jags have a good defense and i think we'll have a hard time running. Captain Swagger (ie: Cam) will have another big day and if our defense can somehow absorb the loss of TD and JB, we should win by 10+.

We will win, and we will look like a good football team doing it.

Carolina 27

Jacksonville 17

I hope you're right, but I have a hard time chalking it down as an easy victory. The Jags did beat the Titans on opening day, who whooped Baltimore last week, who stomped the defending AFC Champs 2 weeks ago. Nothing is for certain in this league.

I know what you're saying, Its any given Sunday in this league. The Jags have some talent on that team and they have something to prove. We do not know how Gabbert will play, he was a first round pick just like Cam though.

It's the same reason I think the Panthers have a shot at playoffs this year, they can win any of the games on their schedule.

That being said I think the Panthers win, but not by much and not without giving up a lot of yards on the ground.
