Why the hate on "Bandwagon" fans

First off... we don't have bandwagon fans yet. We're 0-2. there is no bandwagon. doesn't exist. The new people were probably always fans, just weren't interested enough to go onto a loser forum. Cam got them more interested. now they're losers like us. Just wait till we're actually good... wait till we make the playoffs three years in a row... wait till... gasp we win a superbowl or two. then we'll know what bandwagon fans our.

to say we are getting them now at 0-2 is just being foolish.

I hate all bandwagoners though. The ones for GB and the steelers and all the teams good enough to have them. Whenever I meet someone who is a fan of GB, steelers, dallas, patriots, colts I immediatly want to know where they grew up and how they became a fan.

People talk about how many Packers fans were at the stadium last week, but I'm telling you probably 75% of those people were born in area codes that start with 28***.

The thing I always tell the people from the Carolinas who are "Cowboys, Steelers, Patriots, etc" fans is that they can make fun of the Panthers all they want, etc.

But when the Panthers do win, I will enjoy it so much more than they will when their teams win b/c I actually live here and support my team.

Trust me, a Cowboys fan in Dallas could give a sh** whether or not some redneck from Shelby pulls for the Cowboys. These people act like they are so hardcore, but how can they be? They don't go to games, and their teams don't represent anything tangible to them besides a sports brand.

The Panthers to me represent more than just the Panthers as a football team. They represent where I'm from and where I love living.

There is no way someone from Charlotte pulling for the Colts can have that level of attachment with their team

And having said that, I do respect people who are born elsewhere and move here supporting their team. I would support the Panthers even if I didn't live here.

I just can't understand how a "fan" who was born here can think they are superior pulling for a team they have no real attachment to.

I worked for the Dallas Cowboys in college. When our home state created the panthers, I became an immediate fan even though Dallas was on top back then. I go for the home team regardless because they represent me. It goes against my grain to go for a team just because they are winning anyway. There is more reward supporting the local team through the bad times and they finally make it. If you go for a winning team because they win, when they start losing, what are your going to do??

For the record, I am from Raleigh, and and an NC State fan too. Trust me...it takes a diehard fan to stand behind them at times, but I always will.

I just started on this forum because I came from the Panther Nation on the scout.com forums and it sucks. Was over there for five years. It turned into a dictatorship and is run by someone who doesn't have a life.

I remember you from over there. I left also when kepickle took over. I had a different handle there but to other Huddlers Feldman is legit.

Just because some are new to the Huddle, doesn't mean they are bandwagon fans. I haven't been on this site long, but I have been reading it forever it seems. I am just always too lazy to join things like this.

I am new to the Huddle but have been a fan since the team played in first game at Clemson University. I remember most of the players that have played for the Panthers. I watched every single game of the 2001 season with that miserable head coach George Seifert and our great QBs Jim Harbaugh and Chris Weinke. I remember Burlein running the ball in for a touchdown and me running around the house in excitement. I remember sitting at UNCC Charlotte when I was supposed to be working the concession stand for the men's basketball game on Clay Aiken bobble head night. I wasn't working working. I was out in the lobby watch the Panthers vs. St. Louis playoff game on some old man's hand held TV. I went crazy when Steve Smith got that TD. Then I remember crying after we lost the super bowl. I have never missed a Panthers game. Even before DVR. If I had to tick a VHS tape in the VCR and record it, I would.

So just because I am new to the Huddle, doesn't make me a bandwagon fan. I am sure there are others on here like me, and being labeled that isn't fair.

A fan is a fan. The more fans the better. Who cares why they are fans as long as they are a fan.

Cam is doing exactly what he is supposed to be doing. He brings the Panthers national attention which helps in expanding it's fanbase.

So you've been a fan since '95. Who the fug cares. Those are mostly wine and cheesers anyway.

Welcome to all the new fans of the Carolina Panthers. I personally am glad to have you here....try the veal

OP said welcome new fans. Never said being new to the Huddle makes you a bandwagon fan.

BTW. It is fun to leave a site where the moderator doesn't have a life and come to a board where no one has a life :)

Panthers fans hopping on the bandwagon, I don't have a problem with, as long as they stay on the wagon. If you're gonna hop off, then stay the fug off. Many fans of other teams were fans of their team before the Panthers' inception.. so it's understandable. And good for them for sticking with their team.
