Breaking a longstanding habit

looking bad.

The Panthers have looked bad for years? 12-4 in 2008, and 8-8 in 2009 is not what I would call looking bad, now if you were to say we looked bad for 1 year I could agree with you there. Hell we all know last year was bad and sucked to sit through but we have not been bad for years.

Well the only thing that concerns me thus far is our apparent tendency to give up big plays. I'd play a lot of zone early and make Gabbert prove he can read it. I may sprinkle in some zone blitzes a la Capers as well just to add to his confusion. I think we should be able to make Gabbert look bad. Let's hope he's not the real deal too. :p

Fwiw, Dalton has looked good in the regular season as well. I don't think Cincy is going to miss Carson Palmer at all.

I would feel better about facing Jacksonville Sunday if we had Beason and Davis. Jags lead the league in rushing attempts per game, so I don't think Gabbert will pass a lot anyway. Jacksonville is going to come straight up the gut, and I hope our DT's and linebackers are up to the task.

But I do think we will be ok. Jacksonville's offense is not as prolific as either of the other teams we have faced so far this year. If we can come out with the same intensity as we did against Green Bay, we should win.

I don't think anyone said Dalton hasn't played well, I think the whole disagreement is what can you really take away from a preseason game. I agree with you that Dalton was a good pickup for them and he and Green could be a dangerous duo in the few years.
