Peppers and Cutler some thoughts

Denver was also having to result to using Jerry's Kids to play running back for them by the end of the year. Jake's worst performances in 2008 all had one thing in common, and that was that he had no running game to bail him out. The Oakland game is the one exception, but take D-Will's 69 yard run out and we really weren't that successful on the ground in that game.

So a QB with a great running game did better when the opposing D sold out against the run while the other QB with a crappy running game did slightly poorer when our D sold out against the pass?

Did you watch the game. We didn't sell out on the pass. We played our usual crappy cover 3. Cutler was terrible and missed several wide open receivers.

congratulations you didn't get it

If you can't state your case without being a complete asshole to everyone who disagrees with you everytime, we can give you a vacation from the site.

State your opinion, but lay off the attacts on others. I don't see what's so hard to understand about that.

It's very simple.

You really look like kids fighting over the sandlot. Please stop it.

Why is everyone still arguing about something that isn't going to happen?

No one is really arguing that it will or will not happen, it's more about who is better or would be better for the Panthers.

It's not going back and forth like this

"cutler is coming to carolina"

"no he's not"

"yes he is"

"no he's not"

Not sure what the confusion is, it's pretty clear, some people think Cutler would be good for Carolina, others don't.

(and since it's speculation that he could be traded coupled with he wants to be traded it makes for a legit hypothetical)(unlike if we were talking about Peyton or so on)

Probably because the few people here who currently don't want to exchange cutler for delhomme are the only people who know anything about the NFL who wouldn't take that swap in a heart beat.

Secondly, the debate I started is not necessarily about if Cutler is coming here, but that if he is available and the organisation really wants that ring, they ought be trying to move heaven an earth to at least find out what it would take.

It might be good to remember that while Jake was posting a quarterback rating of 105 over the last 3 games the Panthers were giving up well over 30 points a game to everyone but Denver for close to last in the league. Meanwhile Cutler had a passer rating in the mid 70s while Denver was giving up about the same number of points. If the defense was Cutler's problem and a reason they lost, then why did Jake only get better despite the defense getting worse. I seem to remember Jake leading us down the feld against NO to secure the division win after the defense surrendered a ton of points in the fourth quarter to fall behind. Correct me if I am wrong but Cutler didn't do anything close to that now did he?

Denver scored 10 points against us, 23 against Buffalo and 21 against San Diego. Maybe a big part of the defensive lapse was due to a lack of offense and ball control. Against SD they lost the time of possession by 13 minutes and Cutler threw 2 picks. Against Buffalo they had 532 yards but were only 2 of 6 in redzone opportunities. Cutler threw for 359 yards but in the fourth quarter couldn't get it done. He got lots of yards between the thirties when it doesn't count.

And how about against us? Anyone want to guess who the better quarterback was when Denver loaded the box and dared Delhomme to beat them. Yeah while Cutler had 172 yards and a rating in the 70s, Jake had 253 and a rating in the 90s. Oh that is right it was the defense that lost it for them. And our defense that was so good against Denver then gave up 30 plus points to the Giants and NO. Couldn't be that Cutler isn't as good as people think and can be shut down even by the likes of Trgo.

I enjoy reading your post.

Folks forget how great /clutch Delhomme was for us in that NO game.

Hell that and about 20 other games he came back and won for us.

However people saying "If you don't want Cutler your insane"...thats the same as saying "If you don't think TO is better than Moose and should be a panther then your insane". Chemistry means a lot. Intangibles mean a great deal also.

Exactly.

For me, is isn't even a case of Cutler vs Delhomme. Take Delhomme completely out of the equation. Having seen and read plenty on Cutler, I've pretty much come to conclude that I would not want him on the Panthers at all.

He's essentially Jeff George Part Deux. Plenty of teams took a look at George and plenty of fanbases said "it'll be different when he plays for us". In the end, that worked out about as well as it does for the women who date the cheater and say "but he won't cheat on me, he loves me"

In 2007, it was David Carr. This year, it's Jay Cutler. I wonder who the next anointed "save us from Jake" QB will be. I also wonder how many people will change their tune and proclaim that Cutler sucks if he's traded to Tampa.
