Peppers and Cutler some thoughts

Again, with what happened to Denver's running game and their defense....put Jake in those shoes and see how good his numbers are. We can not rely on Jake if something happened to our running game and we had to rely more on the pass

What about in 2004 when Nick goings was our leading Rusher??????? We were 9th in passing that year and Jake had a QB rating of 87 with 25 touchdowns to 15 ints. That season our defense was ranked 18th overall. Jake lead us to a 7 - 9 record with a crappy battered run game and a sub par defense.

I'm going to butcher Douglas Adams here for a sec.

If you took a couple of Jake Delhommes and stuck one of the Jake Delhommes on the top of the other Jake Delhomme, then attached another Jake Delhomme to the end of each of the arms of the upper of the first two Jake Delhommes and wrapped the whole business up in a uniform of fzking gold that prevented him from throwing passes to Cardinals players and shot beer lasers, it'd still be half the QB of Cutler.

God, that was hard re-word.

Do what???????

And I want to know if anybody thinks that Jake Delhomme will lead this team to a SB victory, damn I wish he would but in my mind I don't think so. God I hope that next year he proves me wrong and my beloved Panthers can win our first of many SuperBowls....... But I don't think that Jake is that man, but what do I know...

Outside of the points I've already made about Jake's fluctuating performance in 2004 it really shouldn't be used in this discussion because it's before Jake had his injury and his surgery and doesn't really qualify in how he's going to perform in the present. Instead let's focus on how Jake performed in games when we had little success running the ball last year and how scary next season could be if we can't keep up our running game.

What !!!?? Your on crack. Jake cant throw a long ball. His passes sit up in the air for an hour with the prayer Steve Smith will come down with it

Your also forgetting that in the first year after the surgery he had your arm strength and accuracy fluctuate on a day to day base. He's past that and will be more consistent next season.

So if we don't have a running game and our defense picks up where it left off, and we have the most difficult schedule in the NFL, then with Jake we're doomed but with Cutler we would be successful?

I just don't see it...

Well if the defense plays like it did last year it, yes, it wont matter how the QB plays, but that's why I didn't include it in my above post. However, I do believe Cutler gives us a better chance to win than Jake, with or without a successful run game. Yes he didn't play well the last three weeks but at least he wasn't throwing 3, 4, or 5 interceptions in those games. And as I've said before, Denver as a team collapsed during that stretch.

And you know this how? The only other QBs who have had Tommy John surgery before were career backups. We have no idea how it will truly affect Jake in the long run. Now I'm an optimistic person, so I'm cautiously optimistic that Jake will play much better next season now that he's fully recovered from his surgery and has a new QB coach. But you're stating this as fact and the problem with that is we simply don't know.

If Cutler has better passing stats than Jake Delhomme, than he's the better quarterback. I dont care how many games he lost. LOL.

So is Matt Ryan a better QB then Cutler, what about Cassel, what about rodgers, what about freaking Seneca wallace? They all had better QB ratings then Cutler and had better Int ratio's???? Btw FWIW Cutler and Jake had the same Int ratio at 2.9

It's a know effect that the surgery has.. He's the first QB that's a starter to have the surgery, but Plenty of Pitcher's have had the surgery and it's a known effect of the surgery.

I must be on crack with the NFL statisticians then, because despite throwing far fewer passes, Jake threw more balls for 40+ last year than Cutler did. Had more average yards per throw too. Granted, when Jake does it credit goes to the receivers while if Cutler does it he gets all the credit. I know how message board logic works. :)
