Jason Williams starting Vs Jax

Rivera was very candid in an interview about Connor, saying how he is a great base guy, but might not be as strongly suited to nickel situations and obvious passing plays because he doesn't have the lateral speed that Beason does. He'll probably do TD's spot by committee as well, putting the best guy in for various situations. He may just be starting, because he's the best 1st and 2nd down Will linebacker that we have in his view. Gaithier could come in as soon as the 3rd down.

Why does everyone believe Gaither is good in coverage? He's really not.

I'm not necessarily saying Gaithier is good in coverage, I honestly didn't watch enough of the will position to make that assumption, I'm simply saying that guys will be rotating, so just because Jason Williams is getting the nod to start because he is a great fit for a first down guy, doesn't really mean a whole lot. Now if he shines and becomes an every down OLB, obviously that's a bonus.

I hope we can work Thomas Williams into the rotation @ some point as well, idk if it'll happen b/c we're still deep @ LB even w/ our injuries to Beason and Davis, but I'd like to see it happen, kid was beasting it in the preseason, he could pan out as a very solid LB

Yeah, that kid looked like a player to me.

Which all could have been remedied by signing one of the adequate LB's left on the market. Go figure.

Huh What Linebacker is that?

I actually like our backup LBs and I think the ones we kept around we kept around for a reason.

Losing Thomas Davis and Beason on defense hurts but LB is really the only position we can actually afford an injury. I mean we went into the season with 8 on the roster.

Now if we lose a starting CB or D-Lineman, that will screw us.
