Hurney: Pep to New England a "no go"

Let start by once again saying peppers is one the top DE in the league at this momet at the age of 29. Peppers ain't no where near slowing down for aleast 5 are 6 more years. Unless he get a major injury. Which that can happen to any body that places any sport. But point is peppers is a beast of a player that is now coming into his prime.

The only reason people are crapping on peppers because he had one bad season 2 years ago. Most of peppers last 7 years with the panthers has been great. Him having 1 bad season ain't making him look like crappy player. He is a top notch DE right now.

The only reason peppers ain't happy is because he panthers just ain't got a front line to get the QB more. Rucker retires and jenkins gets traded to jets. So peppers does not see this current front 4 composing of him, lewis , Kemo, and tyler bratyon is going to genarate enough presure next year. so he wants to go to another team that has a better D than the current panthers have. I mean if the you played for gave a big play everytime you turned around to a WR in larry in the playoffs.

I would want to go to another team aswell. Pepper does not want the panthers anymore. But giving him up for a 2nd rounder is not wise. Peppers is worth so much more then that. Most teams know that. But right now most teams can't afford to pay peppers. That includes a number 1. But the pats need look at this way.

I they trade peppers for a number 1 draft this year they get a good deal here. But if Pats do it the hard way and try to offer peppers a contract and the panthers reject the offer and not counter the offer. Then the pats will still have to give a 1st rd pic and give a 1st rd next year. So which deal is easier. ?? I would say just trade for him and give a first rd draft pick and be done if I was them. But the 2nd round pick is not going to happen. All this is rumors.

i had to break it up to try and understand.

still struggled with it but you made good points.

We do.

See Jon Beason. Apparently we wanted to take him at 15 or whatever the fug our pick was in 2007 but we figured he'd still be there at the bottom of the first so we traded down cause we didn't want to pay him 15 money

That's trading back, while still being in the first round.

In addition to the first round pick, we also got another 2nd and some other draft pick.

The whole point is getting MULTIPLE draft picks, that is the best way to build through the draft.

Peppers straight up for 1 2nd round pick is stupid, and I hope the FO doesn't continue to sell the team short in trades. In a couple years Steve Smith will be traded for half a case of Musky Tail.

?

The more publicity Peppers gets, the better. Buzz will attract more and more teams, and increase his chances of getting traded.

Yea but why the fug would he want to go anywhere but NE?(assuming its a real option)

I mean he only wanted to play for a certain amount of teams, so if you think about it that way, why would he want to attract more teams if he was already limited to begin with?

he knows that the panthers aren't likely to bite on that one. if he creates some more demand, the pats might raise their offering for him.

Fair enough, but by limiting where he would agree to go, he kind of lowers his own demand in a way.

If he would agree to go just about anywhere, I bet we would have had some good offers by now.

If he is trying to trick NE, I'd say GL with that one.

I know, I wasn't saying he didn't, just that I didn't see why he would or what he was trying to do.(given how limited they already made themselves anyway)

Understand. His agent is just trying to get the trade ball rolling.

Dear NFL, I am not tampering. There is absolutely no tampering going on here. If I were looking for tampering, this sure would be the last place I looked. Man I hate tampering.

Pretty much.

Every team skirts the tampering rules to some degree. I doubt we're an exception.

Does anyone really think those contract terms that Kemo and Hartwig agreed to at 1am or so a few years back were negotiated in the first hour of free agency?
