if they think the player they want will be there at 34 why take them in the first?

orakpo and raji will be gone by the patriots first.

Um, because he might not be? And if we're trading our star DE away for a late 2nd round pick that we're hoping will still be there....then balls

Past picks at #34:

Devin Thomas WR Redskins

Paul Posluszny LB Bills

D'Qwell Jackson LB Cleveland

Brodney Pool S Cleveland

Chris Snee G NY Giants

Boss Bailey LB Lions

DeShaun Foster RB 49ers

Kyle VanDenBosch DE Titans

Mark Roman S 49ers

Ok, so some of them didn't work out so well....but there is talent to be had in that slot.

Would you trade Peppers for any of them?

VanDenBosch is probably the only one somewhat close (for me)

I might trade him for a Meatball sub and a beer. :)

Seriously, if the guy is here against his will next year, how much will we get out of him? Maybe he plays well to impress other teams, or maybe he just gets by at 11 million next year or whatever we are paying him.

16+ million or basically the same price as about 5/6 solid FA's

I heard this on Sirius this afternoon during Moving the Chains and I was sort of surprised they would report this because there was no official confirmation from anywhere. Someone is clearly leaking information to the media and I have to think that it's probably Peppers' agent who is clearly out of his depth at the moment; he's fortunate that he's got such a big prize as his client.

:dupe:

Give credit to Hurney: he's just reading from the rule book when talking to the media and not negotiating through the media; however, I would not doubt that he's seething behind the scenes when it comes to Peppers' agent. And with good reason. It's an interesting situation: both players in this game have good hands, sort of both have a full house and the question is, who has the better full house?

It has to be driving Hurney crazy but it has to be driving Peppers crazy too. Peppers has crossed the Rubicon and he might be stuck. But there's one thing that's certain; his agent is clueless. If Peppers had a serious agent, everything would be settled at this point.

Let start by once again saying peppers is one the top DE in the league at this momet at the age of 29. Peppers ain't no where near slowing down for aleast 5 are 6 more years. Unless he get a major injury. Which that can happen to any body that places any sport. But point is peppers is a beast of a player that is now coming into his prime. The only reason people are crapping on peppers because he had one bad season 2 years ago. Most of peppers last 7 years with the panthers has been great. Him having 1 bad season ain't making him look like crappy player. He is a top notch DE right now. The only reason peppers ain't happy is because he panthers just ain't got a front line to get the QB more. Rucker retires and jenkins gets traded to jets. So peppers does not see this current front 4 composing of him, lewis , Kemo, and tyler bratyon is going to genarate enough presure next year. so he wants to go to another team that has a better D than the current panthers have. I mean if the you played for gave a big play everytime you turned around to a WR in larry in the playoffs. I would want to go to another team aswell. Pepper does not want the panthers anymore. But giving him up for a 2nd rounder is not wise. Peppers is worth so much more then that. Most teams know that. But right now most teams can't afford to pay peppers. That includes a number 1. But the pats need look at this way. I they trade peppers for a number 1 draft this year they get a good deal here. But if Pats do it the hard way and try to offer peppers a contract and the panthers reject the offer and not counter the offer. Then the pats will still have to give a 1st rd pic and give a 1st rd next year. So which deal is easier. ?? I would say just trade for him and give a first rd draft pick and be done if I was them. But the 2nd round pick is not going to happen. All this is rumors.
