I thought long and hard about going to a breeder for a dog, but in the end the conditions at 80% of them are deplorable.

I guess you could look at it as a rescue in that sense too. Something is gonna happen to those dogs.

If you don't take the time to sit down with the breeder, and inspect the areas that the puppies are going to be raised in, you don't need a dog.

You really can't be sure that either dog is the parent of those pups without some kind of dna test.

I have a difficult time trusting anyone I haven't known forever, can you tell?

I guess, but I can tell when someone is feeding me a line of crap. The dogs that I buy (English Bulldogs) are very expensive, and the breeders cannot operate them as a puppy mill.

I spoke to the breeder of my dog before the pups were even born. I was there about a week later when they were still feeding off the mother. I picked out my puppy then with a right of refusal for another 4 weeks.

Maybe that's a bit overkill, but I wanted to know.

Yeah we are still a year off but I have already researched a few.

This one in particular gets glowing reviews and the place is supposed to be really nice.

If we go that route I will even post it here to see if anyone has used them.

My dumbass cat died a few weeks ago so we are in the market for a dog.

I want a golden and there are several in my neighborhood who all came from the same breeder in NC. They are all happy and healthy and beautiful dogs.

My wants a mutt from a shelter.

I think dogs are a major part of a family and I like knowing where they came from. I don't mind investing a few $$ in that.

Some people tell me its basically murder.

What say you?

Most dog lines from breeders have been over bred. Get one from the Shelter and you will have a friend for life! Who cares if it has papers or not.

IF you absolutely have to have a certain breed of dog, go on-line and search for a rescue shelter that caters to that breed.

Much better than buying from a breeder who is most likely just a puppy mill!

You could probably "rescue" a purebred from Blue Ridge Boxer rescue if you got on their waiting list.

I breed, raise, train, hunt and field trial AKC beagles.

And AKC does DNA profile the males once they have been bred a certain amount of times either in a year or lifetime. And if they dont match their pedigree they lose their registration and all the pups they have sired do as well.

I'm sure not a puppy mill only raise a litter every once in a while. But as far as not being truthful about the parents, thats just a real big no-no. Not saying some idiots might do it. Just saying if the breeder has any honor & integrity it's not an issue.

There is nothing wrong with getting a rescue know alot of people who have done it with great results.
