He's thrown to Naanee several times, which is pretty much the same thing.

to be fair, that one throw against GB in the redzone was all Cam's fault...should've been a TD, of course considering that Naanee would've caught it if it was on target

Sacks need to viewed as a function of attempts. If you throw the ball 100 times and get sacked 10 times you have an effective sack rate of once for every 10 passes attempted. If you throw 10 passes and get sacked twice you got sacked much less but a percentage of attempts it is twice as much.

Newton has attempted 83 passes and has been sacked 8 times, resulting in 1 sack per 10 attempts. For example, Manning has been sacked 7 times on 61 attempts which is one sack for every 8.7 attempts. While Brees has attempted 86 passes and been sacked 4 times or one sack for every 21.5 passes.

The other thing that I have no idea how to collect but would be interesting would be to see how times he was sacked as a function of how many times was he blitzed. Has anyone been under the pressure Newton has been in his first 2 games???

I swear I remember him throwing it at Stew's feet on purpose under pressure during the AZ game, but I was very drunk by that time so most of that game is a haze.

Yep. Several times hes had open wholes to run as well. I think hes focused on throwing from the pocket, but now everyone knows he can. He'll get it though, and we he does look out.
