We will see how good Cassell is in a different uniform. I think he was too much of a risk. But, I agree we continually overlook the QB position. You can throw whatever stats you want out there about Jake...hes good enough to make the playoff's three years out of 5 years when he was healthy. He also took us to a super bowl and dueled play for play with who is arguably the best qb in the league. Jake was a game manager, now he isn't and he belongs with the Carolina Panthers.

Fixed it for you. Cause Game managers don't have 20 game winning/tying drives.

The Pats getting rid of Cassel for an early 2nd round pick was a steal for them. It would have been a bigger steal for them to keep the pick and trade Cassel straight up for Peppers. I am glad that we did not make that trade.

its just frustrating to see us pass up on qb after qb. theres a reason we arent as consistent as the top teams (indy, pats, chargers) and thats quarterback play. instead of a guy who can win a game by himself if the burden falls on his shoulders we have delhomme who trys but just doesnt have the tools. i know our front office is still a little gun shy over kerry collins but come one dont cling to jake like he's freaking joe montana

Dude......did you, like....just start...... watching the panthers like..... play?

Edit:hahahahahahah you called the Chargers "consistent"

Wait so since 2004 going 12-4, 9-7, 14-2, 11-5, 8-8 with 4 playoff appearances(3-4 record) isn't consistent?

You have to consider the teams they play in those playoffs too......but wow....

If that isn't consistent, then I wish the Panthers could be as inconsistent as the Chargers have been since 2004.(albeit with more playoff wins I'd hope)

Cutler>Delhomme>Cassel

when it matters teams will stack the box and make us throw and delhomme cant do that

Did you watch this past season at all? We saw plenty of eight man fronts this year, and passed effectively against them.

Regardless of who's quarterbacking, any team that stacks the box is forced to cover Steve Smith one on one, and that is a huge risk.

Jake Sucks !!

Which he will show this year again. Watch Cutler go to Tampa and see how that turns out against us.

He will be back to how he started the 08 season, last season's inconsistency was in some part caused by the surgery. Varying arm strength and throwing accuracy is one of the effects of TJ surgery with in the first year after the surgery. He will be even better next season.

They're not a bad team by any means, but they've certainly benefited from being in one of the worst top to bottom divisions in football. They're consistent in the sense that they've consistently beat up on the horrible Raiders, generally bad Chiefs, and wildly inconsistent Broncos. They don't belong in the company of the Patriots and they haven't been nearly as dominant year in and year out in the regular season as the Colts.

Yeah, I wish we could have made the playoffs as frequently as they do/did, but the fact that they only made it past the second round once in those four appearances would still leave everyone pissed off during the offseason anyway.
